Like Chris O’Bryant’s post last Sunday, this YouTube find contains a whackload of CCs in (mostly?) New York City. Unlike Chris’ post, many of the cars here are in motion and unless you’re some kind of a Debbie Downer you’ll want to turn the sound up before you press Play. What are you happy to see in this vid? What are you surprised not to see? Me, I’m kind of shocked at the scarcity of Darts and Valiants.
CC Music Video: Hang Up on New York
– Posted on March 17, 2017
Well, someone did comment on a previous CC that New York was a ‘GM town’!
I did see plenty of Sattelite and Coronet taxis.
Also spotted Kojak’s Buick Century, the Pontiac LeMans Popeye Doyle ‘borrowed’ in ‘French Connection’, and views from and of the Checker cab Travis Bickle drove in ‘Taxi Driver’.
Happy Motoring, Mark
I also spotted the Lincoln Mark III from “The French Connection,” just before Popeye Doyle’s Pontiac, and a street scene filled with taxis from “Forrest Gump” at 4:50. The latter was part of Forrest Gump and Lieutenant Dan’s night out for New Year’s Eve.
The video and the music complement each other perfectly. This music is exactly what I would want to use in a movie set in 1970s New York.
My thoughts exactly on the music!
And look at the sooty black streaks on all the truck trailers…remember that?
I kinda goofed in my post last week. I meant to say, except for the taxis and law enforcement vehicles, which were indeed overwhelmingly Mopar as other posters pointed out. Oops!
