Nothing makes drivers MAD-der than the frustrations of commuting. What was awful then is worse now.
While the outfits and accessories let us know we are examining previous decades; the attitudes and agony feel fresh and contemporary.
On the other hand, we may never know what decade our last-panel rail tramp hails from. The teens?

Was funny how each sentence in the cartoon bubbles end with ‘!’
One of those things that, once seen, cannot be unseen.
Exactly. This drove me nuts as a kid when I finally noticed it in comic books. “Stop yelling! People don’t talk like that!” I told myself!
The expensive lightweight bicycle commuter cartoon with the heavy locks was ahead of it’s time.
The guy talking to himself about car pools is probably my favorite. Keep the old Mad Magazine car related articles coming.
Especially since the best commuter bikes are the traditional English 3-speeds, which are made of good old steel an weigh about 35-40 pounds. Extreme lightweight bikes belong to the Lance Armstrong set.
Everytime I see a small overlap frontal crash test, I think about what MAD might have called it. Maybe the, “That f#?%ing moron is texting and he gonna hit me test”? The popularity of these MAD articles shows us that growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional. Keep em coming.
Fixed now. Sorry.
Eh. Dave Berg was always one of the least funny parts of MAD. Here’s something from a MAD parody by National Lampoon in 1971.
God that’s good. And they got Berg’s terrible artwork down pat, too.
Thanks a million for sharing this.
Haha wow, I thought this was gonna be painfully dated but I can actually relate to most of these!
Thanx ! .
I remember reading these back in the day .
The clothing and styles were accurate too .
Glad I never had to live that life .

Smoking car?
Boy, is this from a long time ago.
Thanks for the chuckles. The cartoons were from the days when MAD magazine was actually amusing and clever. Thinking it might still be the same, we subscribed to it recently only to find that every issue is loaded with unfunny, liberal anti-Trump rants. MAD’s glory days are long gone.
I`m old enough to remember when MAD was all over LBJ in the late `60s. After many, many years, I bought a copy about a year ago.”Unfunny’ hardly describes it!
What? MAD Magazine doesn’t have any respect for the president? I’m shocked! Shocked!
