As one endlessly obsessed with campers and RVs, I forgot to include this shot with the Audi 5000/100 CC the other day. I have no idea where it came from, but it has a decidedly German aspect to it. Nice fiberglass work. With a turbo-diesel and quattro; what’s not to like?
Now That’s What I Need – Not

Wow! That is some serious craftsmanship.
I wonder what the topper was originally meant for. Rabbit Pickup?
I don’t think it was a topper, but an integrated compact RV, and either a prototype or possibly a production unit. I only have this shot, but no info.
It’s an interesting concept; but a lot of otherwise-usable room is lost in using the front end of a sleek, performance-oriented car. This would have worked better with the front-half of a minivan; or at least a more practical front-drive automobile. Even a compact pickup chassis would have been better.
What’s not to like? Audi’s tempermentalism. An annoyance in the city, it could be catastrophic out in the boonies.
A history and interior photos of this camper, made by a German company called Bischofberger, can be found at this link.

In case the heat goes out in the Ski Chalet, yes?
Thanks for finding and sharing that info. Looks like it came in both pop-top and high roof versions.
Looks to be made well enough but on an Audi No Thanx
It looks pretty neat but a detachable design like the SAAB Toppola setup http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toppola is more versatile.
That fills me with internal confusion. I desire it with my soul but my mind says NO! I must go and meditate on this Kōan.
It’s the Bischofberger camper

I have seen “Kamper-Karrs” where they trekked from Sweden to Mongolia and back. Not based on DerAudi suspension though.
Very cool! Reminds me of the Citroen station wagon that Jeremy Clarkson turned into a 3-storey camper on Top Gear… These car-based campers seem to be a European thing, as I recently discovered that an English company did something similar to the Mk3, 4 and 5 Ford Cortina – as per attached photo:
