Should I do that with my Nissan Frontier? Nah, I like flying “under the radar.” There don’t seem to be too many fanbois or haters of Nissan in comparison with Toyota.
It’s like flying under the radar with haters and Nissan. I still get a few people that can’t believe my Xterra came from the factory with square headlights and no blower..
Nissan “haters” seem to focus on the Sentra and destruction of the SE-R, Versa and the cost cutting of the IRS in the older Maxima even though it didn’t really hurt handling..
Frankly don’t see the sense of the label. IMO Nissan is every bit as good as Toyota and I have little patience with fanbois who constantly badmouth them. After numerous pickups from 79 to 87 with three of them serving over 750k, there is little doubt in my mind. Now have a cube (which I also hear badmouthed by the unwashed masses). It is a 2011 with over 47k trouble free miles.
I am not that easy to impress but that is a personal record of durability that allows me to give my $.02 worth.
Preaching to the Choir.
I think Nissan would rather toil away in obscurity than have the spotlight like Toyota.
The spotlight just brings on angry rant type “Business Plans” from JB.
I bought my Xterra (after weighing several options) because of a friend’s 94 Pathfinder that went 240,xxx miles before needing an engine. It still ran but it was just too tired to keep going at that point. And that was the same unloved VG engine that wound up in the X and Frontier..
I’ve just never understood the need by some owners to have the iconic Brand Name splashed all over the rig.
Sure, I understand the manufacturer doing that. But when a rig is painted? Or the gate replaced with an aftermarket with identical sheetmetal…but can’t stamp in the name, because it’s a trademark? And then the owner puts it on with freehand or glue-on labeling.
Or…this is my favorite…you’ll see a semi tractor rolling along with its cathedral grille. Up above it, is the Peterbilt oval…but painted on the grille itself is a HUGE COPY of the SAME LOGO. That wasn’t put on there for free; why would anyone waste his money like that?
So is it a NISOTA or a TOYSAN, I like TOYSAN!

This dude must have needed some attention.

Yes but that Toyota badge makes it worth $500 more.
$750 if its the gold package.

I’ve seen V-tec stickers on a Corolla and Peterbilt mud flaps on a International ProStar.
Toyota makes a good pickup but when you look at the premium they command on the used market the Ranger or Frontier is a better value.
