It’s time to give Santa your automotive wish list. What will be gracing your driveway on Christmas morning with a big red bow on it?
Me?
This may sound a bit modest, but what I would like to have is a classic Peugeot suspension for my Xb. It just rides so hard, but I love it otherwise. So how about an Xbox 404, Santa? Or maybe just a brand new 404 wagon, if that can’t be done? Just like our previous one, but with the standard transmission, please.
This car I found a couple of days ago on the Bayless-Midwest website; it’s a 1982 Fiat X-1/9, which had been a very clean driver and only needed minor restoration. They were asking @ $9,000 USD for it. It has since sold, but maybe Santa could find it’s twin and park it in my driveway?
wow that’s a beaut. I have a real soft spot for these too, so I sympathise
I like these too, the poor, crazy mans 308.

Oh, and some Wayfarers and sunscreen. Thanks buddy.
Always thought 1965 was a great year.
Oh, call me crazy but,
1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan. If you look at that front end long enough, it begins to resemble a cross-eyed Siamese cat.
wm 300 POWER WAGON

Good luck! I’ve been sending Santa a letter with this wish for 25 years. He doesn’t ever seem to have any.
Jag coupe or Benz convertible
Oh my, I can’t decide between a 46-48 Chrysler or DeSoto with Fluid Drive and a 61 Stude Hawk with a 289/4 speed. Or maybe Santa should just surprise me with anything with a pushbutton automatic.
I don’t know, Jim. That 1961 Studie Hawk sounds pretty good to me right about now… 😉
Any of the following will do just fine, and in no particular order.thanks Santa. I’m grateful and not picky at all, hardly.
Continental Mark II
1961 Continental convertible.
Chrysler 300, C, D, F, and/or G
57 Corvette
67 Corvette convertible
56 Bel Aire convertible
58 Impala convertible
59 Impala convertible
61 Impala, convertible or bubble top
61 Bonneville convertible or bubble top
68 Charger
68 Roadrunner
58 De Soto Adventurer convertible
69 Datsun 510
original 240-Z
If I get all of those and a place to keep them, I’ll work on expanding the list.
Predictably enough I’d ask for a factory fresh 1999 FIAT Coupe 20v Turbo, but not the Turbo Plus, as I prefer the sills on the original Turbo.
It’s not *exactly* my old car, but a ’99 Turbo would get me the push button starter and 6speed, which I always kinda wished Hobbes had.
In “Broom Yellow” of course, and with black leather interior, climate control and a sunroof.
Splateagle: Still envious of you guys. I have liked the Coupe for years. Maybe if I wait out the 25 year rule we have in the States, I can get one… Just in time for my retirement! LOL!
I guess if I could have whatever I wanted magically appear in the driveway, I would want to have my two most cherished cars from my past sitting there in all their “better than when I lost them” glory: My red ’69 Mustang Fastback, and my maroon-and-white ’76 Bonneville 2-dr Land Yacht. Two cars that I didn’t want to give up, but did.
And if ol’ Santa wants to toss in a ’61-’63 T-Bird, that would be nice.
Dear Santa, I have been a good boy all year, mostly. If you can bring me, I’d like a 1941 Packard Custom Super Eight 180 Sport Brougham by LeBaron, dark blue with the matching Riviera interior option and fender skirts, but no sidemounts or runningboards please Hope this isn’t asking too much……!
hmmm….there’s a person on packardinfo.com with exactly the same handle…
That’s me! I haunt that Forum daily!
BTW 58L-8134 was the serial number of the last Packard built at South Bend, July 25, 1958.

Lol. I’m the Steve that posts about the alternate reality where Packard merges with Hudson in 53.
Found out about the length of the Studie 245 today. There were a couple guys on a Studebaker page on FB talking about their trucks with 245s, so I floated the question about the length. The guy with a 52 1/2 ton replied within an hour: the head is 24″ long. So, the Packard/Hudson/Studie merger would not result in Studie trucks getting an upgrade under the hood from a big Hudson 6. The 308 is 30″ long, plus accessory drive, fan, flywheel, bellhousing. It’s a miracle AMC got the 308 into the Hash, though I read that they went to hydraulic lifters because it was impossible to get at the lifters in the Hash to adjust them.
I thought you might be Steve203, we all have our on-line personas which come through. Alternative scenarios are some of the most fun to work out, there were many prospective combinations then. Do you haunt the Hudson Forum too? I’ll have to start!
A big Hudson Six would have made a great engine for the Studebaker trucks, though a good deal of rework would have had to be done to accommodate it. I’ve noticed how tight the Hornet 308 fits in the ‘Hashes’ engine compartment, surprising they even bothered, though they sold relatively well.

They probably did it for the same reason that the alternate reality Packard-Hudson company did, to maintain brand identity. iirc, when I was at the Hostetler last summer they had a Hash with the hood up, but I don’t remember taking a good look. I remember looking under the hoods of a Hornet and Wasp and getting a good laugh that they had to dish the firewall of the Wasp to make the 262 fit after they shortened the front clip to make the car junior to the Hornet. The Packard-Hudson company made the Wasp simply a downmarket trim from the Hornet and the Wasp lagged a year behind the Hornet in transition to V8s.
The take rate for 308s in the Hash is easy to figure. The Packard V8/Ultramatic cost $260 more than a 308/stick, and not everyone wanted an automatic then. The spread between a Studie Champion 6 and a Commander V8 of the same trim level was only $90 and both came with a three on the tree.
I don’t routinely haunt any Hudson boards, though I have read some interesting threads on H.A.M.B.
A big Hudson Six would have made a great engine for the Studebaker trucks,
Lots of low end torque, but the rework for a 6″ longer engine probably would not be worth it: revised frame, revised front clip. May as well do an entire new cab while they’re at it, and Studie showed a distinct lack of interest in investing in the truck line. Besides, Packard-Hudson closed the Hudson engine plant when the new platform came out as the engine room was designed for a V8 and could not accommodate the 308.
This.
Oh dear. Given an infinite garage: every 56 Mopar hardtop/convert, 55/56 Packards, Studies, a 54 Kaiser, Late60s/early 70s senior AMCs, VeeDubs, Fiat X 1/9, every 68 FoMoCo hardtop/convert.
Even that 71 Mark III that JP snubbed because of the color..
Reality is I have a 1 car garage with just enough room for my daily driver, so carSanta can pass me by.
Dear Santa, I would like one of these : Trabant 601 S
A 98 Convertible……light blue…
Nice. ’67?
For regular motoring, a Rover P5B Coupe in dark green with a silver birch roof and cream leather interior.
For fun, an Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III Sports Convertible in BRG with red interior.
For load-hauling, a Mercedes W123 estate in cream with a tan interior.
For showing off, an exceptionally well-built and well-maintained 1957 DeSoto Fireflite. I’ll worry about colour and trim some other time, but it’ll need some red.
As crazy as it sounds, I’d like a 1974 AMC Matador sedan.
Merry Christmas to all. Such a wonderful diverse selection of automotive desires.
You all have a great season and new year. Here is my dream Christmas present in slate blue, but sans alloys, just steelies with BMW chrome covers, thank you.
Dear Santa,
I’ve been a good boy. Please may I have for Christmas this year the one that away in 1970. It was $600 and I only had $300 and the cold-hearted banker wouldn’t accept a 1956 Morgan 4/4 Series II as collateral for the $300 I didn’t have. Can you believe it? Or one just like it would be OK, it doesn’t have to be dark green with black wings and red interior. I promise I’ll take good care of it and give it an Aquaplane head and intake manifold and twin SU carburettors.
p.s. If it doesn’t have a heater or a top, that’s OK, too, I still have the leather jacket you gave me when I had that TR3.
Any step nose Giulia wod do. Heck maybe even a newer Giulia would work. One with some corrosion in its rockers but no structural rust would suit me just fine.
Having lightened the garage in the past four weeks of my beloved 1995 Triumph Trident (totaled due to a high speed collision with a deer, after 19 years and 117k almost flawless miles), and my 2006 Pontiac Solstice (sold off due to a certain amount of disinterest – having been preceded by a Porsche 924S, there was no comparison and I want another front engined Porsche); my first thought is another motorcycle. The Harley is fun, but I need something with hard bags for daily commuting.
Santa has just offered me a bone stock 1983 Yamaha Venture Royale for FREE! I know the owner, it’s been sitting in storage for 20 years, but he tends to take care of stuff to the extreme. The stereo has been pulled and stored inside the house to keep the cassette workings at room temperature. I go look at it next Sunday afternoon and decide.
On one hand, its a good bike (full plush, powered by a detuned V-Max engine). And did I mention its FREE?!? On the other hand, it is one of the ugliest motorcycles I’ve even seen.
Wow, I’m jealous. They really are horrible looking, both overall and in the details.
Make it look like an outlaw.
Looks like a Brougamocycle…….
I’m pretty sure this one never got to the UK.The V Max sold quite well here.
An original DELCO AM/FM radio from a 1972 Chevy truck .
I’ll sweat the knobs and brackets . just the radio please .
Oh ~ does it _have_ to be a car ? .
We had a 1967 Peugeot 404 Family Salon (Wagon) in midnight blue , Pops bought it in France and had it shipped here , what a great car .
-Nate
1986 Mazda 626
1965 Chevrolet Caprice Sport Sedan.
Triumph TR-6. British racing green of course.
I wished for a Renault R5 Turbo II but because I was naughty I got a pile of iron oxide shaped like a 1966 Porsche 912.
Volvo 122 NorthPolestar:
What’s that? I know what a Volvo 122S, but I’ve never heard of a North Polestar. 🙂
It’s a covert division of the Volvo factory racing team that also deals in surveillance, bulk data acquisition, quantum physics, reindeer farming, toy manufacturing and coal mining. Their headquarters and test track is at a top secret location somewhere north of the Arctic circle. The famous racing driver Hoho Sinterklaas can be seen behind the wheel!
Ah! Ok. I like the picture of this car. 🙂
Haha, love it Sean! 😀
A 62 Thunderbird, a 83 Jaguar XJ12, Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, Citroen DS and a Peugeot 504 cabriolet
If it’s to be just one, a Lamborghini Miura.
Tomorrow, it will almost certainly be a different answer
Dear Santa,
I need a Lincoln Navigator, or a Lincoln Aviator.
The good old Saturn Relay is wearing out!
After riding in one over the weekend… a 2015 Mustang GT 6 speed in Guard, with the Performance package and no other options. Don’t need all that useless electronic BS to enjoy driving one 🙂 .
I’d like a ’63-’66 Dart or Valiant wagon, automatic, slant six!
Dear Santa,
If you could let me borrow a 1958 Edsel Citation 2 door hardtop just like the one I used to know, i’d polish your boots!
If I can only pick one, I’ll go with about the first thing to come to mind: Facel Vega Facel II.
If that’s not possible, how about the Malibu I already own, but restored and running again? LS7 power would be oh so nice (and naughty as well) but heck, I’d settle for an LT1 if I could just drive it again on Christmas morning..
’63-’64 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special. Clark Street’s finest.
