It’s time to give Santa your automotive wish list. What will be gracing your driveway on Christmas morning with a big red bow on it?
Me?
This may sound a bit modest, but what I would like to have is a classic Peugeot suspension for my Xb. It just rides so hard, but I love it otherwise. So how about an Xbox 404, Santa? Or maybe just a brand new 404 wagon, if that can’t be done? Just like our previous one, but with the standard transmission, please.
As has been the case for the last dozen or more years:
1. 1941 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet
2. 1963 Buick Riviera
Either would be fine.
A fully loaded coal truck. If for some reason he thinks I’ve been good, a fully restored 67 Lincoln Continental 2 door silver with black vinyl roof.
If you’re a shrewd businessman, that coal truck could be worth more than enough to get the Conti yourself.
Good idea.
Good call, Dr Z. Or as a buddy put it, his dream car is a Brinks truck with a full cargo of Hondo’s!
A 60 Mercury Comet. But a 60 Falcon would do. A 62 Rambler Classic wouldn’t be too shabby either.
1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser in factory fresh condition. The last one was built on June 5, 1992 which was two days shy of my 15 birthday. The only options I care about are the 350 V8, tow package, and an interior in color other than black/grey/tan.
Fun – ’67 GTO convertible. Wouldn’t say no to a ’68 in Verdoro Green either.
Daily driver (but still fun) – Any of the “sleeper” Subarus (Forester XT/Outback XT/Legacy GT) will do, but especially an ’07-’08 Forester Sports XT 5-speed. SOA won’t release exact numbers, but it’s believed that fewer than 800 5-speed FSXTs were imported.
1. 61-63 T- Bird
2. Blonde & A bag of money.
How about fun, reliable, affordable 2 or 3 door small cars. An early MR2, a Toyota FX16, an early ’70s Karmann Ghia. Or give me my Pulsar NX back, in mint condition, of course. An Acura Integra. Finally, a Mini Cooper Coupe, before they quit making them.
The car Santa is giving in illustration looks awfully like an MN12 Cougar, I’d be happy with another 😀
….or a Hellcat I guess
I’d take a 1969 Jeep J4000 with the Custom Cab and factory a/c.
Or a fully loaded 1974 Buick Estate Wagon with the Stage1 package!
And I’d also like some storage space, a lot of storage space! (I mean a storage building, not cargo space!)
” 1969 Jeep J4000 ”
Well played, sir. Well played.
1996 Cadillac Fleetwood
1. 1967 Jaguar E-Type convertible.
2. 1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville.
3. 2015 Rolls Royce Ghost
1960 Dodge Polara D-500 2-door hardtop, or a 1956 DeSoto Adventurer, or a 1961 Chrysler 300-G. Any of those would be fine. 🙂
This one would do nicely…
http://www.collectorcarproductions.com/lot-details.php?RefNum=r141&EventID=89
A toy truck of course !
This one will do just fine: http://www.ruylclassics.nl/mercedes50_eng.htm
Very unusual choice, and very cool!
Another dream toy that you get you through the traffic jams no problems…Landrover 101 Foward Control.
Yep, or a DAF YA-126. Excellent off-roader with its H-drive. All (ex-) military, lots of them are being used now as hobby-vehicles.
There is one of these locally that was at a friend of mine shop. It needed a fuel pump and was there for almost a month until one arrive from the UK for it.
Bristol 411
67/68 Mercury Cougar 302 4 barrel auto
56 Continental Mk2
Facel Vega
E type Jaguar
Big Bad Green 69 AMC Javelin
Vauxhall Cresta PA
Ford Zodiac Mk2
Not a Panther Pink 1970 Coronet? 🙂
Better not be greedy!
The landlord of one of the pubs we stayed at a few years back had a Bristol like that (possibly an earlier model?), he had it for sale for some time and Bristol came to him and offered to restore the car and sell it, and he would get his original asking price. If the car did not sell within a certain timeframe he would get the restored car back to either sell himself or keep. I can only imagine how much it would cost for the Bristol factory to restore one of these, and of course he took them up on the offer. When we were there I think it was still a work in progress so I’m not sure how it ended.
I’ve always liked the 1967-70 AMC Javelin and AMX.
53-54 Cadillac Coupe De Ville
57 Cadillac Eldorado convertible
66 Ford Galaxie 500 2-door hardtop
69-70 Mercury Marquis convertible
71-73 Chrysler Imperial four-door hardtop
68 / 69 Dodge Coronet R/T
68 Chevy Impala 2-door hardtop
71-72 Lincoln Mark IV
Acura NSX
2nd Gen Acura Legend Coupe
Lada Riva
E39 5-Series
Bustleback Seville
Citroen DS
Renault LeCar
’73-’76 & ’77-’79 T-Bird
’87-’88 Mercury Cougar
’82-’85 Celica Supra
’82-’85 K-Car of any kind
’79-’83 280ZX
That is a very eclectic wish list!
Variety is the spice of life.
I agree. I’d go for an Acura NSX or the Subaru SVX (Alcyone). It’s an unforgivable shame that Subaru discontinued that car when they did. What an awesome car, and the shot in the arm Subaru needed, and needs again today.
I’d like a future CC: a soon-to-launch 2015 Chevy SS sedan with manual transmission. I know it isn’t going to be available on the 25th, but I’ll take a rain check!
Dear Santa,
I’ve been a very good boy this year. Please bring me a 1969 Imperial LeBaron 4dr hardtop in Deep Plum with a Formal black interior.
I’ll leave the Aberfeldy 21 on the table like always.
Aberfeldy. Interesting choice!
91-96 Chevy Corvette ZR1
02-04 Chevy Corvette Z06
12-13 Shelby Mustang
08-12 Lexus LS460L with the Sport package
Dear Santa. I think I have been a good boy this past year .
Please bring me a
1. 1955 Chrysler New Yorker
2. 1955 Imperial
3. 1955 Desoto
4. 1955 Dodge
5. 1955, well, maybe a picture would help
Could I please, please, please have all of these in the color black!
Nice – it was a very good year.
Pinzgauer please
I did have to ponder my answer to this question …. for about ten seconds.
+1
a brand new condition 87 Astro/Safari Cargo van, 4 cylinder 5 speed. I’m a simple man that misses my old van.
I’d like a trip to Australia and New Zealand. As far as cars go, I’d want an Australian Holden HR Premier sedan, with all the accessories with it. 🙂
I have a spare couch you could sleep on for the NZ part!
Thank you. I don’t know when I’ll make it. It takes money to make such a long flight. And probably more than that to stay there for more than a month.
Paul, I can feel your pain. My Pontiac Vibe rides no different from your xB and it makes me long for the dark green Peugeot 304 I had back when.
I would like a 1951 Studebaker Land Cruiser Santa. Of course that will only be possible if I have been relentlessly good.
I would like that 1958 Plymouth Fury I bought on February 22, 1959 back again, in the same condition as the day I bought it. My parents gave it away while I wasn’t looking…. Many years later…
I thought my mom was bad for giving away my Lionel trains. Your car wasn’t named Christine, was it?
No, she was an authentic Fury, problem was the folks were in NJ and I was in CA. when the time for them to move to a retirement community, they didn’t think I would return to get “that old car”. Water over the dam, long ago.
Maybe he’ll come through with the 64 Continental convertible I’ve been wanting for about 50 years.
2015 Smart forfour
2010 VW MK1 Golf citi (ZA built)
2004 Fiat Multipla (the ugly one)
Gen 1 Renault Twingo ragtop
A first gen Ramcharger/Trailduster sans roof and wearing slot mags would be nice!
A 340 Duster ’72 or older….YES.
A ’86 T top Dayona Shelby Z would hit the spot.
A ’41 Plymouth coupe rat rod complete with Patricia Day (Horrorpops lead singer) enjoying a Camel while sitting on the fender would be worth an agonizing amount of good behavior. OR commiting several felonies!
A cobalt blue Hellcat Challenger complete with pistol grip 6spd and grey torq thrusts very likely goes without saying.
Back to reality! I have been eyeballing a nice low mileage Magnum or Challenger in R/T trim. I already did my homework, and my insurance would be very reasonable and Im already approved for WAY more money that I would need…at 1.9%, no less.
The question is, Magnum in dark blue, or inferno red with the option of keeping the Rumble Bee too. OR, trade the Bee and take my pick between the Chally in Hemi orange or Kowalski white. I sure do miss driving a manual…..
Challenger all the way; don’t even think twice. The manual is a must. Color could go either way…You’re welcome. 🙂 Now go out and buy that thing.
If I could have one in “brand new” condition, a 1973 or 74 Porsche 914 2 liter. I’m not picky, any color will do. Alternatively, a gen II MR2….as long as it has a manual transmission and NO sunroof or T-tops.
And if none of those, a new Chevy Colorado.
1972 or 73 AMC Gremlin X
304 V8 and 3 speed please
Having just struggled to get my twenty year old merc through its’ annual safety inspection, then shelled out over seven hundred bucks (US$) for the year’s road tax; this is what I would like to see parked on my driveway.
Now, that would be a dream come true!
+1. V-Power goes with everything.
+2
Please?
Buick Grand National
Hellcat Challenger
I just wish had a driveway (and a garage) instead of a numbered parking spot.
Although I’d love a 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, with mint-condition DiNoc.
Any two door Cricklewood Bentley- 3, 4.5, Speed 6, 8 Litre. I’m not fussy.
Alternatively, if £££ are an issue: a Lynx or Proteus aluminium C-Type replica (I want to be able to drive this on public roads).
W.O.’s finest…
I’d like a C-Type replica with a Falcon 4.0 turbo engine. I wonder what you need to do to a C-Type to make it handle 600hp???
Santa has been bringing me the car I most desire….but we seem to have a misunderstanding regarding scale. (Truth be told I’d rather have a Malibu than an SS, but who am I to complain with what the big guy brings me?)
MGB-GT. 1973 or 74. I will even take a rare ’74 rubber bumper model. Must have overdrive. Color not important. Thank you Santa.
P.S. If the right one is not available a Gen1 MR2 manual will work.
I’d somehow love one of the extra-wide 1960 Fords, but wouldn’t mind a ’40 Zephyr, if Santa was so inclined:
And hurry, The New England States is running late, by a half-century or so.
PA1? Nice choice.
Thanks! One of the last new midrange diesels Lionel made before giving up on its US factory circa 2000.
hands down, the 55 Chevy from Two Lane Blacktop.
Lotus Europa JPS, black with gold livery. But blue would be ok too.
A 60s wagon to haul my Boy Scouts. Vista Cruiser? Or maybe a Tempest wagon – love the idea of the rope drive. Falcon or even a Valiant?
Or, a red 67 F100, with a slide in camper with an over-the-cab bed, where I could look out as Dad drives up I-95 to Maine. (Oh to be a little kid again…)
Santa brought mine early! It’s already gracing
my drivewaymy mechanic’s service bay! Story coming up this Friday 🙂If I`m lucky, a `75 Chrysler New Yorker Coupe-the “Electric Razor” all in white. Thank you
New Mustang V8. Red one. That is all.
I would have better luck asking Santa to make me one of these than finding a nice one on my own:
* 1977 Capri II Le Cat Black
* 1980 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Coupe D’Elegance
* 1981 VW Scirocco S
* 1989 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon
* 1994 Nissan Sentra SE-R
How happy can a guy be?
There’s a 404 Peugeot in the garage and it has been there for twenty years.
And Santa sent some elves to help and finish my latest pride and joy :
One of them Subaru Impreza’s.
But one of those means ones : A 1998 two-door Impreza WRX Sti Type R Limited Edition – yes this is how it is called.
A Group N rally car in street version, one of the elves used to work for Subaru and knows all the VIN numbers by heart.
Very, very nice. That is the most significant Jap classic since the GTR. I’d be tempted to drain it and put it on blocks, but then you don’t get to drive it.
I wouldn’t mind a WRX, my favorite’s the 2008-2010 hatchback in a color other than WR Blue and with silver wheels for maximum sleeper effect.
Like this one;
Is that a 22B Rammstein, or did they make a toned-down version too? Very nice either way.
No, for the Japanese market they made a 2-door of the WRX STi models.
Which were not exported officially, except the pressure from the UK became so big for the two-door model, they decided to launch the P1, a two-door for the UK in limited edition .
We got a two-door WRX of some sort new in NZ too – in very limited numbers though. Must have been rally models as I think they all had the cabin air intake flap on the roof.
Maybe one of these:
Renault 12? Been there, done that, happily sent it to the scrappy years ago. Only car that I’ve owned that scared the hell outa me. Terminal understeer that once saw me drifting across three lanes on a mild left hand bend going at a mere 40mph.
Either one would be fine.
I love that Cadillac toy!!!
This car I found a couple of days ago on the Bayless-Midwest website; it’s a 1982 Fiat X-1/9, which had been a very clean driver and only needed minor restoration. They were asking @ $9,000 USD for it. It has since sold, but maybe Santa could find it’s twin and park it in my driveway?
wow that’s a beaut. I have a real soft spot for these too, so I sympathise
I like these too, the poor, crazy mans 308.
1956 DeSoto Adventurer
1956 Imperial
1956 Cadillac deVille or Fleetwood
1958 Cadillac (any Model)
1965-6 Cadillac Cpe deVille
1958 Chevrolet Impala
1954 Mercury Sun Valley
1964-8 Lincoln Continental 4 Door
1969-71 Lincoln mkIII
Any or all without aftermarket continental kit
1985 Ford Capri Super Injection
1980 Ford Escort RS 2000
2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt
1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport Fastback
1993 Ford Mustang Cobra
2010 Ford Focus RS 500
Santa, please bring me either or both of these holiday sleds:
1965 Chevy Impala convertible – white with red interior
1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL convertible – red with white interior
Oh, and some Wayfarers and sunscreen. Thanks buddy.
Always thought 1965 was a great year.
Oh, call me crazy but,
1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan. If you look at that front end long enough, it begins to resemble a cross-eyed Siamese cat.
wm 300 POWER WAGON
http://www.allpar.com/photos/dodge/trucks/power-wagon/power-wagon.jpg
Good luck! I’ve been sending Santa a letter with this wish for 25 years. He doesn’t ever seem to have any.
Jag coupe or Benz convertible
Oh my, I can’t decide between a 46-48 Chrysler or DeSoto with Fluid Drive and a 61 Stude Hawk with a 289/4 speed. Or maybe Santa should just surprise me with anything with a pushbutton automatic.
I don’t know, Jim. That 1961 Studie Hawk sounds pretty good to me right about now… 😉
Any of the following will do just fine, and in no particular order.thanks Santa. I’m grateful and not picky at all, hardly.
Continental Mark II
1961 Continental convertible.
Chrysler 300, C, D, F, and/or G
57 Corvette
67 Corvette convertible
56 Bel Aire convertible
58 Impala convertible
59 Impala convertible
61 Impala, convertible or bubble top
61 Bonneville convertible or bubble top
68 Charger
68 Roadrunner
58 De Soto Adventurer convertible
69 Datsun 510
original 240-Z
If I get all of those and a place to keep them, I’ll work on expanding the list.
Predictably enough I’d ask for a factory fresh 1999 FIAT Coupe 20v Turbo, but not the Turbo Plus, as I prefer the sills on the original Turbo.
It’s not *exactly* my old car, but a ’99 Turbo would get me the push button starter and 6speed, which I always kinda wished Hobbes had.
In “Broom Yellow” of course, and with black leather interior, climate control and a sunroof.
Splateagle: Still envious of you guys. I have liked the Coupe for years. Maybe if I wait out the 25 year rule we have in the States, I can get one… Just in time for my retirement! LOL!
I guess if I could have whatever I wanted magically appear in the driveway, I would want to have my two most cherished cars from my past sitting there in all their “better than when I lost them” glory: My red ’69 Mustang Fastback, and my maroon-and-white ’76 Bonneville 2-dr Land Yacht. Two cars that I didn’t want to give up, but did.
And if ol’ Santa wants to toss in a ’61-’63 T-Bird, that would be nice.
Dear Santa, I have been a good boy all year, mostly. If you can bring me, I’d like a 1941 Packard Custom Super Eight 180 Sport Brougham by LeBaron, dark blue with the matching Riviera interior option and fender skirts, but no sidemounts or runningboards please Hope this isn’t asking too much……!
hmmm….there’s a person on packardinfo.com with exactly the same handle…
That’s me! I haunt that Forum daily!
BTW 58L-8134 was the serial number of the last Packard built at South Bend, July 25, 1958.
That’s me! I haunt that Forum daily!
Lol. I’m the Steve that posts about the alternate reality where Packard merges with Hudson in 53.
Found out about the length of the Studie 245 today. There were a couple guys on a Studebaker page on FB talking about their trucks with 245s, so I floated the question about the length. The guy with a 52 1/2 ton replied within an hour: the head is 24″ long. So, the Packard/Hudson/Studie merger would not result in Studie trucks getting an upgrade under the hood from a big Hudson 6. The 308 is 30″ long, plus accessory drive, fan, flywheel, bellhousing. It’s a miracle AMC got the 308 into the Hash, though I read that they went to hydraulic lifters because it was impossible to get at the lifters in the Hash to adjust them.
I thought you might be Steve203, we all have our on-line personas which come through. Alternative scenarios are some of the most fun to work out, there were many prospective combinations then. Do you haunt the Hudson Forum too? I’ll have to start!
A big Hudson Six would have made a great engine for the Studebaker trucks, though a good deal of rework would have had to be done to accommodate it. I’ve noticed how tight the Hornet 308 fits in the ‘Hashes’ engine compartment, surprising they even bothered, though they sold relatively well.
I’ve noticed how tight the Hornet 308 fits in the ‘Hashes’ engine compartment, surprising they even bothered, though they sold relatively well.
They probably did it for the same reason that the alternate reality Packard-Hudson company did, to maintain brand identity. iirc, when I was at the Hostetler last summer they had a Hash with the hood up, but I don’t remember taking a good look. I remember looking under the hoods of a Hornet and Wasp and getting a good laugh that they had to dish the firewall of the Wasp to make the 262 fit after they shortened the front clip to make the car junior to the Hornet. The Packard-Hudson company made the Wasp simply a downmarket trim from the Hornet and the Wasp lagged a year behind the Hornet in transition to V8s.
The take rate for 308s in the Hash is easy to figure. The Packard V8/Ultramatic cost $260 more than a 308/stick, and not everyone wanted an automatic then. The spread between a Studie Champion 6 and a Commander V8 of the same trim level was only $90 and both came with a three on the tree.
I don’t routinely haunt any Hudson boards, though I have read some interesting threads on H.A.M.B.
A big Hudson Six would have made a great engine for the Studebaker trucks,
Lots of low end torque, but the rework for a 6″ longer engine probably would not be worth it: revised frame, revised front clip. May as well do an entire new cab while they’re at it, and Studie showed a distinct lack of interest in investing in the truck line. Besides, Packard-Hudson closed the Hudson engine plant when the new platform came out as the engine room was designed for a V8 and could not accommodate the 308.
This.
Oh dear. Given an infinite garage: every 56 Mopar hardtop/convert, 55/56 Packards, Studies, a 54 Kaiser, Late60s/early 70s senior AMCs, VeeDubs, Fiat X 1/9, every 68 FoMoCo hardtop/convert.
Even that 71 Mark III that JP snubbed because of the color..
Reality is I have a 1 car garage with just enough room for my daily driver, so carSanta can pass me by.
Dear Santa, I would like one of these : Trabant 601 S
A 98 Convertible……light blue…
Nice. ’67?
For regular motoring, a Rover P5B Coupe in dark green with a silver birch roof and cream leather interior.
For fun, an Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III Sports Convertible in BRG with red interior.
For load-hauling, a Mercedes W123 estate in cream with a tan interior.
For showing off, an exceptionally well-built and well-maintained 1957 DeSoto Fireflite. I’ll worry about colour and trim some other time, but it’ll need some red.
As crazy as it sounds, I’d like a 1974 AMC Matador sedan.
Merry Christmas to all. Such a wonderful diverse selection of automotive desires.
You all have a great season and new year. Here is my dream Christmas present in slate blue, but sans alloys, just steelies with BMW chrome covers, thank you.
Dear Santa,
I’ve been a good boy. Please may I have for Christmas this year the one that away in 1970. It was $600 and I only had $300 and the cold-hearted banker wouldn’t accept a 1956 Morgan 4/4 Series II as collateral for the $300 I didn’t have. Can you believe it? Or one just like it would be OK, it doesn’t have to be dark green with black wings and red interior. I promise I’ll take good care of it and give it an Aquaplane head and intake manifold and twin SU carburettors.
p.s. If it doesn’t have a heater or a top, that’s OK, too, I still have the leather jacket you gave me when I had that TR3.
Any step nose Giulia wod do. Heck maybe even a newer Giulia would work. One with some corrosion in its rockers but no structural rust would suit me just fine.
Having lightened the garage in the past four weeks of my beloved 1995 Triumph Trident (totaled due to a high speed collision with a deer, after 19 years and 117k almost flawless miles), and my 2006 Pontiac Solstice (sold off due to a certain amount of disinterest – having been preceded by a Porsche 924S, there was no comparison and I want another front engined Porsche); my first thought is another motorcycle. The Harley is fun, but I need something with hard bags for daily commuting.
Santa has just offered me a bone stock 1983 Yamaha Venture Royale for FREE! I know the owner, it’s been sitting in storage for 20 years, but he tends to take care of stuff to the extreme. The stereo has been pulled and stored inside the house to keep the cassette workings at room temperature. I go look at it next Sunday afternoon and decide.
On one hand, its a good bike (full plush, powered by a detuned V-Max engine). And did I mention its FREE?!? On the other hand, it is one of the ugliest motorcycles I’ve even seen.
Wow, I’m jealous. They really are horrible looking, both overall and in the details.
Make it look like an outlaw.
Looks like a Brougamocycle…….
I’m pretty sure this one never got to the UK.The V Max sold quite well here.
An original DELCO AM/FM radio from a 1972 Chevy truck .
I’ll sweat the knobs and brackets . just the radio please .
Oh ~ does it _have_ to be a car ? .
We had a 1967 Peugeot 404 Family Salon (Wagon) in midnight blue , Pops bought it in France and had it shipped here , what a great car .
-Nate
1986 Mazda 626
1965 Chevrolet Caprice Sport Sedan.
Triumph TR-6. British racing green of course.
I wished for a Renault R5 Turbo II but because I was naughty I got a pile of iron oxide shaped like a 1966 Porsche 912.
Volvo 122 NorthPolestar:
What’s that? I know what a Volvo 122S, but I’ve never heard of a North Polestar. 🙂
It’s a covert division of the Volvo factory racing team that also deals in surveillance, bulk data acquisition, quantum physics, reindeer farming, toy manufacturing and coal mining. Their headquarters and test track is at a top secret location somewhere north of the Arctic circle. The famous racing driver Hoho Sinterklaas can be seen behind the wheel!
Ah! Ok. I like the picture of this car. 🙂
Haha, love it Sean! 😀
A 62 Thunderbird, a 83 Jaguar XJ12, Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, Citroen DS and a Peugeot 504 cabriolet
If it’s to be just one, a Lamborghini Miura.
Tomorrow, it will almost certainly be a different answer
Dear Santa,
I need a Lincoln Navigator, or a Lincoln Aviator.
The good old Saturn Relay is wearing out!
After riding in one over the weekend… a 2015 Mustang GT 6 speed in Guard, with the Performance package and no other options. Don’t need all that useless electronic BS to enjoy driving one 🙂 .
I’d like a ’63-’66 Dart or Valiant wagon, automatic, slant six!
Dear Santa,
If you could let me borrow a 1958 Edsel Citation 2 door hardtop just like the one I used to know, i’d polish your boots!
If I can only pick one, I’ll go with about the first thing to come to mind: Facel Vega Facel II.
If that’s not possible, how about the Malibu I already own, but restored and running again? LS7 power would be oh so nice (and naughty as well) but heck, I’d settle for an LT1 if I could just drive it again on Christmas morning..
’63-’64 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special. Clark Street’s finest.
