I was just uploading my latest batch of pictures when I realized there was a nice QOTD/Clue opportunity in this shot. If your car spotting muscles are needing a bit of a workout bit, go at it.
Curbside Clue: What’s That Car On The Other Side Of The Street?
– Posted on October 29, 2020
Is it an E-body Chrysler New Yorker?
That’s where my money’s at
Not with that sideview mirror; not with those doorhandles.
It looks like a mid 80s Honda Civic wagon (aka Shuttle). In Canada this generation was not available in red, but it could have been in other markets (or repainted).
GMT400 Suburban with a bad paint job.
I’d say late 80’s Honda Civic Wagovan…..
+1
70 /- 2years GM truck.
(Well crap I was looking at the dash board and did not read the clue question properly- sorry)
Did the same thing /: We were smart about the dash, though.
A smaller early Jeep Cherokee? Say, early nineties?
Early 4Runner
Honda CRV
Looks like a 1st Gen Honda CRV
All I know is:
Red seatbelt buckle is GM 70’s vintage
No shoulder belt means 67 or older
Grey seatbelt is a red herring seatbelt
CB radio circa 70’s
Owner likely still has mustach circa 70’s
Aftermarket wood steering wheel means true driving enthusiast
I still have no idea on Cecile type
Maxima wagon.
I think it’s Maxima wagon.
Oops. Sorry for the double post. Almost guarantees that it’s wrong!
A Toyota Corolla AWD wagon from the late 80’s/early 90’s.
I’m pretty damn sure that is a LaForza.
Pretty close with the LaForza, at least visually, but I don’t think so. There’s enough detail to be recognizable but I just can’t place it. Certainly not a Civic wagon. I’m stumped.
It looks, if the entire view through the truck is to be taken, to be a… Dodge/Plymouth Colt Vista with a Continental kit? Or am I not supposed to connect that spare tire with the featured car?
Isuzu trooper?
Something ate my earlier post.
It’s a Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
Same.. I was the 2nd comment yesterday (after the New Yorker one) when I wrote Mitsubishi Challenger (I’m not American, and JDM stuff is my thing) but alas I don’t see it. Oh well, my win was fleeting haha
Montero Sport. The raised door handles and floppy, awkward mirrors definitely make me think of that. Grab handle is in the right spot on the passenger A-pillar too.
+1
Yes, definitely a Montero Sport
Good call on the Montero Sport. I think you guys got that one.
Congratulations! We have a winner.
Yep.. Montero Sport BUT, doesn’t it look as if it has a rear mounted spare tire, which the Montero Sport never had?
Toyota Tercel wagon.
1992 Buick Roadmaster?
You took the picture through a 68-72 Chevy (maybe GMC) pick-up truck.
The car on the other side appears, to me, to be Mitsubishi’s entry in the 1980s Toyota Tercel/ Honda Civic AWD wagons. The Mitsu was taller
It’s relatively tall and short. Would that be a Dodge Colt Vista? Mitsubishi Mirage Vista (Was that what they were called?)
That’s my best guess–I would not bet on it.
But as a frequent guest here, if there are any mid-80s Colt Vistas in NA, I’m sure they are in Eugene….
Looks like there is a rear deck, but not sure if that is an optical illusion. If it does have a rear deck, I’m thinking Chrysler, New Yorker or similiar
Drives me nuts when people cut the dash of these early trucks for aftermarket stereos…at least patch panels are available. Looks like a Ford Explorer across the street
Nissan Axxess.
