The occasional “CC For Sale” posts here always seem to generate quite a bit of interest. So how about a regular/daily CC For Sale post? All we need is someone who likes perusing craigslist, Ebay, or otherwise, and sharing their best finds with us.
Ideally we’d have a wide range of ads, from serious collector cars to beaters as well as just off-the wall ads. So if you’re into it, let me know, either here or via curbsideclassic(*)gmail.com.
If you’re interested in the Mustang, here’s the ad.
This sounds like a great idea. I couldn’t commit to every day but I’d be happy to do once a week at least!
You’re on. You would draft them directly into CC. You need to register with CC and tell me your user name so that I can make you a Contributor. You can email me at the address in the post.
Woot! Thanks!
Paul, I have tried numerous times to register for your site. I wait in vain for the email to confirm my registration. Is this an Australian thing, or am I doing something wrong? Cheers.
Jimmy-
I had the same problem. Try this:
– go to Log In instead of Register, then click Forgot Password
– put in the username you used when you first tried to register
I got the email a couple minutes later, if that.
I shall do that CJC. Thanks for the tip.
Yes; this:
Trouble getting an initial Log In after registering for the first time at CC? Unfortunately, it’s a common problem, and here’s the fix; Try to Log In, but pretend you forgot your password, and ask for a new password to be sent to you via email. Use that to Log In, and if that works fine (it always does) you can always change your password to your preferred one.
Thanks Paul as well. Cutting back Bottlebrush as I type to keep she who controls all things happy, but once I have knocked off and had few beers I will have a crack. Cheers.
It’s a great idea. I follow Obscure Cars for Sale and Obscure Cars for Sale 2.0 and Facebook. And I check in on my BaT email although most cars are boring to me. The Barnfinds website is a pain in the ass bringing up pop-ups that show up everytime.
I can’t even remember to follow Bring A Trailer and so recently missed a decent, nay better than average 1957 VW DeLuxe Beetle sell for $10,000.00 ~ a _lot_ of $ for me but I’da worked very hard at getting it if I’da been aware of it =8-( .
I hope someone can pick up the baton and run with this idea .
-Nate
I wish I had the time but I’d love to see them be done.
Craigslist almost seems to have a regional flavor in the listings. I’ve noticed for example that New Mexico has a high number of 10+ year old conversion vans and pickup trucks from multiple decades in different states of stock, modified, and total disrepair.
Here’s my contribution for today:
1990 Chevy 454 SS 1500 (wrecked)
454 V8,400 turbo automatic transmission, clean interior. It was a well maintained truck until the accident in June 2017.It does have frame damage, but the drive train, interior, and more too are all in very good condition.I would like to sell it as a complete truck, but I’m negotiable. Odometer: 135000
Asking $5500
So, we have a 27 year old truck with 135,000 miles wrecked by hitting the nose hard enough to bend the frame… and it’s worth $5500?

Looks good. So are you willing to do one or two posts per week like this directly into CC? That’s how it would need to be done.
I wish I could find the one that (I think) Car & Driver included in an article about car ads back in the late ’80s/early ’90s (so these would have been newspaper classifieds.)
They captioned it “Tpysetr zeriosly hungovr” because the mangled listing read (from memory, not 100% accurate):
69 Le;ans ocniveiblr, burkst, 67 sppeed…” I mean, it was total gibberish. The most you could figure out was that it was for a 1969 LeMans convertible.
I think its a great idea, and I would love to see more. I don’t have much time and couldn’t put together a column, but I could keep an eye out for the odd ad.
The most interesting ones I see are when someone buys a piece of wilderness property, finds a dead car left in the woods 40 years ago, drags it out and hangs a “for sale” sign on it. Its usually overpriced, half-missing from rust, full of critters and of course, no ownership papers.
I wish i had the time to do it. I’m on board if this gets started!
I might send some in. I use to do it here: http://barnfinds.com/author/robert/
These were the ones I did there.
Perfect! You’re on, if you’re willing. You would draft them directly into CC. You need to register with CC and tell me your user name so that I can make you a Contributor. You can email me at the address in the post.
Paul, thanks! 1973 Mercedes-Benz Roadster 350slc RARE EUROPEAN MODEL 235hp Moonroof – $3500 (Newberg)
https://portland.craigslist.org/yam/cto/d/1973-mercedes-benz-roadster/6367076755.html
Do you want me to post in WordPress? Should I set up another account? My user name is “Robert” I can change it to “Robert Rothbard” or will you?
I’ve sent you an email with the details.
Unfortunately, I don’t have time to do so regularly at this point, but it would be nice to have a place to send them to! I saw an Acura SLX on Facebook Marketplace a few months ago – exactly how many were made?
I’m on Craigslist every day….sort of a hobby…found a lot of good deals that way.
I remember some ads because they stood out so much at the time. Hemmings had several. Must be 40 years ago, “1958 Edsel citation, I’m moving, it doesn’t, Make offer. And if you have ever run across or owned a demonic Mopar, I wouldn’t have believed they existed until my ’59 Dodge Coronet Lancer 2dr ht Super D-500. One from about 30 years back. “1956 Imperial 2 door hardtop, 11,000 original miles, perfect white paint, leather interior, all power options and factory air, wire wheels, new wide whitewalls, runs perfectly 354 cu in, early TorqueFlite, show winner most events, should be wonderful, but I must warn this car is possessed by Satan himself and no one should buy it but am desperate for sale, if you feel lucky, $11,000 or best offer. ” Some are confusing, a ” 1959 Chrysler Impala, 383 with Powerglide, famous bat-fins, swivel seats, power steer and bra, poly glow with good chrumes, must see to believe.” Some are unique in other ways. “1869 (with picture of a 60 Olds sedan) Oldmobile big engine, Hi-Dramatic trans, accessories, and does well, make offer” And we’ve seen this one. “1959 Cadillac, NEW engine, trans, electrical system, paint, interior, chrome, new glass as well, all new suspension, everything redone, ALL ORIGINAL, rare. $275,000.” One more recent Early Tatra, very rare, needs restoration $1,000,000.” If I see interesting ads, will pass them along.
57 Hillman Minx. New paint and rebuilt engine. $5449. 541 221 8316. Portland Oregon.
I think it’s a great idea Paul. I see you already have a few volunteers. I definitely don’t have the time to do it even on a weekly basis, but I could do the occaisional write-up in this category. Every now and then I come across a really cool find and it woud be great to share it here on CC.
I don’t know what I can say about this one
Reliable and legendary Northstar, eh?
Here’s a gem for you https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/d/weekend-special-1952-plymouth/6327441330.html
“phony missiles, machine guns and cannon” – What more would you want in a motor-vehicle?!
Happy Motoring, Mark
Well, Veterans Day is this weekend. What a great parade car find!!!!!! LOL
Can we with stick with contributions which don’t violate the most basic rule of craigslist? Local only.
From the text in the ad: Floors are GOOD.
“floors are GOOD”, frame not so much!
Happy Motoring, Mark
Here’s a pic used by a guy selling his New Yorker. I love the caption:
:
If that guy had a big old Chrysler like that, that was in still like-new condition, I would definitely want to buy it. But, because I’m a Mopar car-nut, not so much for the reason he listed.
Not if the cars look like that horrible Mustang!
I can submit ads if I find them. I don’t know how many CCers live in Minnesota, though.
No ad to contribute, but I just wanted to say Holy Guacamole! The pictured Mustang looks like a life sized AMT or MPC kit. I knew model kits offered paint jobs and graphics like that, but not REAL cars.
That Mach I doesn’t look that bad to me. It just looks a bit dated in a 80s way. I don’t care for the wheels, but at least it’s not donked.
Here’s my contribution. This car needs a bit o’ work:

Actual CC For Sale:
1960 Lincoln coupe shown in this post:
https://www.curbsideclassic.com/blog/snowside-classic-outtake-1960-lincoln/
Was offered for sale just recently in Boonton NJ for $10K. I no longer see it there so perhaps it’s sold.
Side view:
Remember the Acura Integra that someone wrote up a year or three ago that someone on here was thinking about selling? They picked it up and then drove across eastern Oregon highcountry on the way home? I tried to find it again and couldn’t. That got me thinking:
We should have an actual CC classifieds section. Rules:
1) Be completely honest about everything you know about the car, this isn’t the List of Craig. Keep your receipts and use them for documentation. Put loads of pics in the ad. If it’s a project, someone might want to tackle it.
2) Fair prices. If it’s craptastic, price it that way. We aren’t Barett-Jackson here. No 25 thousand yellow Firebirds that are really worth 10.
https://www.curbsideclassic.com/blog/cc-for-sale/cc-for-sale-1969-firebird-350-convertible-worth-it/
3) Offer support. Pick up the serious CC member at the airport. Let them get it running in your driveway, etc. Don’t sell the car out from under them when someone is on the way to look at it.
4) Write the deal up and post it. Tell about your trip there and getting it home.
5) If it’s a great deal, both seller and buyer can tip Paul what they think is fair for being the source. CC can not be held liable, etc., etc.
This is a great idea! The best CC’s are the ones you can buy.
Not sure what to make of that Mustang though…the paintjob isn’t TOO bad outside of the pink, but those dated ’90s ‘garbage disposal blade’ wheels have me torn. Theyre horrible, but at the same time any of the current blinged out oversize high offset trash makes those look like a million $$.
I’m up for occasional contributions from the San Francisco area. I’m currently between computers, but I’ll be setting up a new one next week. Typing on a crappy android touchscreen keyboard is just too much aggravation for too little output.
Will there be any expectation of “balanced representation” or picking from various categories, or is it more a “submit what interests you” plan? I see a lot of interesting cars for sale, but my tastes run strongly toward “small, foreign, and weird”. I have little interest in the mid and full-size American cars from the 60s through the 80s that are a mainstay here. Even if I tried, I wouldn’t have the slightest clue which of those would be worth submitting.
