Summer is flying by quickly, so here’s a reminder of the CC Heartland Meet-Up in Auburn, Indiana on Saturday, October 4th. We’ll be doing the the National Auto and Truck Museum in the morning, and spend the afternoon in solemn veneration at the high temple of America’s finest cars, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum. To be followed by a bit of socializing, of course.
I will also be in the Baltimore area Sept. 27 – Oct. 2, so if there are some of you who would like to meet up somewhere (Edith Massey’s Shopping Bag is no more, sadly), let me know. I do like Fells Point, even if it’s not as I remember it when I lived there in 1972.
Paul,
I live in Alexandria, VA – which is not too far from Baltimore and am up for the idea of a CC meet.
I was wondering – would it be okay to suggest a venue for a meet-up? My suggestion is the IKEA at White Marsh Mall. My Volvo Club buddies and I had a meet there last February and would you be conducive to that idea? I would like to tell said Volvo Club buddies about this and if you’d like, we can all bring our cars.
I’m open to ideas like that. Let me mull it over a bit…
Another Baltimore-area option: The hot rod crowd gathers every Saturday evening in the parking lot of Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie. There’s usually over 100 cars there, mostly 50s and 60s American iron, some modified, some stock.

A CC meeting on the West Coast would be nice.
In Seattle, maybe a bit later in the fall. I’d like to see the LeMay Museum.
The LeMay museum is great fun. It’s not a bunch of immaculate classics under perfect lighting. Instead it’s the vast & eclectic collection of a guy who just collected what he liked. So you’ll see a 50’s Pontiac Safari parked across from a 20’s Pierce Arrow. There are also some very rare cars like some Miller Indy 500 race cars. Motorcycles, too.
Make sure you set aside plenty of time. It took a friend and me 3 hours to see all the cars, and we didn’t tarry.
I too, would love a west coast meet up.
I live in Baltimore and know of the spots posted above. None of my CC are currently running but I would bring pics and show up. Here is a shot of my 84 Fila Thunderbird.
I am about 90 minutes north of Baltimore in Southeast PA, so I am definitely up for the Baltimore get together.
Feel like carpooling? I can’t be too far from you.
Anyway, if you’re doing Baltimore I’ll do my best to be there.
Cool. But I’ll be honest, it all depends on if the wife is coming with me or not. If she’s coming to a Baltimore meet up then she’s going to expect dinner on the inner harbor 🙂
I’m in Chester County by the way.
Hmmm… I’m in Cumberland (Carlisle), about 25 minutes away from I-83. I’m thinking that’s not going to work for either of us. Too bad.
Can’t definitely commit to anything yet due to schedule, but Baltimore would be a lot easier and less expensive for me to get to than Indiana. I’m certainly on board with Baltimore. Keep me posted.
I live 30 minutes from Auburn and would like to attend. Would it be appropriate to bring my 4 year old? Domestic harmony requires I don’t leave both kids at home for car events. Also there is a great Hudson museum in Shipshewana – about 45 minutes from Auburn.
Also there is a great Hudson museum in Shipshewana –
Northern Indiana has too much good stuff. If you go from the ACD to the Hostetler, you may as well keep going to South Bend to the Studebaker.
The Studie is on my list this year, they have two special exhibitions that will have a schedule crossover this fall, so if I time it right I can see both.
Haven’t been to the ACD in a couple years so, might show up, but 200 mile drive from casa del Steve, and I’m too cheap to rent a room, so may show up midday.
Nuts….I just realised the local AMC meet was last Sunday. Missed it!
Bring your kid? Why not? It’s not a formal kind of event; just touring a museum and hanging out some.
I would cruise down from Manhattan for Baltimore.
Baltimore being only a short drive from the Washington, DC area, expect to see a white 1986 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser there.
I like the idea of meeting in Fells Point, provided that the gathering is not too big to find parking together for everyone.
Don’t know if the time works, but my sister in Baltimore’s been asking me to visit.
I live about 25 minutes south of Baltimore. Both venues would be ideal. Another option is the Pep Boys parking lot in Glen Burnie. That store seems conducive for car clubs. The regional Toyota/Lexus club was there last week. (I have no CC worthy cars but will definitely gawk at those assembled)
I live in northern NJ, but am leaning toward coming to this event forming in Baltimore. Having relatives nearby, it’s easy for me to crash. Just to go and talk and gawk with you folks interested in this would be a major treat.
Keep planning, Paul and Co. and I will keep reading.
What time are you thinking about starting at the National Auto and Truck Museum on Saturday? I’m 90% sure I’m coming, but need to plan the weekend out.
We had our company holiday party at the ACD museum last year. It was great.
We did a ‘car facts’ scavenger hunt, and had a contest to take the craziest picture of the boss. Good times. One of our best parties, and we’ve had a lot of great ones. I’ll watch for the time, but that’s a busy weekend for me.
Has a meeting time and location within the museum been set for the morning yet? Also, is anyone bringing their significant other along? My wife will be joining me on the drive down but is not terribly interested in car museums, sadly 🙁
I’m up for Baltimore, too.
I’m planning on making the trip to Auburn…having been there several times, I can say it’s a nice place.
Looking forward to seeing you in person!
Exit 30A on I-695?
Surprised Paul hasn’t guessed this clue?
Second hint, Blue Oval.
Seattle is doable ;
I could drive my Mighty met or the hearse up…..
-Nate
Depending on the date, I could be available for a meet-up in the Baltimore area. Harrisburg is a little over an hour away from the Towson area. I was just at the White Marsh IKEA last month.
Baltimore would be a lot easier for me to get to than Auburn, but I’ll be in North Carolina the weekend of the 27th. That’s unfortunate timing!
