On my way out to my folks’ this afternoon, I had to stop for a train. As we got underway, I spotted this really nice Austin Healey. It looked particularly good in two-tone green.
I have seen this car at the Heartland British Auto Fest in Davenport before (stay tuned for a Car Show classic on that event one of these days), but it was nice to see it on the road. Good for the owner, to get out and drive his classic. After all, that’s what they’re for!
The two tone is interesting for sure. I’d have to have mine in a more traditional color though.
Byootiful. And Tom, next time get a train pic too. 🙂
I’m not sure when these cars were sold, but if that doesn’t say “1958” I don’t know what does. Looks like it’s in good hands!
There is a beautiful Austen Healy near me that is two-tone blue and silver, but not schemed the same way as the photo, but extremely classy looking. If I ever see it and am able to get a picture, I’ll post it.
Found an interesting Austin/Morris today Ill stick it on the cohort when I figure out how again
When I was in law school in the early 80s, there was another student who drove one of these (a 1967 model). I was making do with a well-worn 71 Plymouth Scamp, but he had the Healy and also a 1967 Olds 98 Luxury Sedan. He said that they were a set. The Healy was for nice weather. The Olds was for bad weather and also for nice weather when the Healy would not start. The Olds was not much to look at, but the Healy was beautiful.
My dad drove 100-6 for several years – it was the BN4 2+2 model and probably a ’57 or ’58. Black with red interior – don’t know if the seats were real leather or “English Leatherette” but it was a cool car. It was slotted in the LBC line of his between the Morris Minor convertible and his first of two MG 1100 Sports Sedans. My folks drove it from Columbus (OH) to Watkins Glen one year to watch the “sports car races” – don’t know if it was the Formula One race that year or just “sports car races” – I have a really cool glass ashtray that my mother brought home as a souvenir.
