We’re closing in on the end of Corvair Week, and I’ve stumbled into the mother lode of Custom Corvairs. I’ll show a couple here, including this flying wing shorty coupe, but if you want to see all six pages of them, here’s the link at corvaircenter. Just don’t get too lost.
Since we showed one shorty, how about a Rampless-shorty.
Corvair trikes are a recurring theme; a logical way to put junked Powerglide Corvairs to use.
Corvair engine transplants abound there too, like this inevitable Isetta. Yes, it does wheelies.
Well, we’ll leave it with this creative…thing. Well, we know it was built after 1965. Hurry back!
Is next week Gen2 Corvair week then?
I can’t believe I’m actually looking forward to this, you are my kind of crazy person Paul..
No!!
Seriously, I don’t want Corvair fatigue to set in among the less enthusiastic readers here. Another time.
Corvair week seems to have generated a lot of traffic,
I was wondering if you were going to cover the Yenko Stinger Corvair once you got to the Gen2s.
Bizzaro! Especially that last one. Yeah, me too, you’ve got me hooked. Thinking about an electric Corvair, it would be sweet. Then realizing how I’d react to one of my kids if a car that old was their daily driver.
Great photos endless Corvairs is right these are rarer here than IMPs so this is the only place I see any.
That’s a lot of custom Corvairs! Thanks for the treat. 🙂
I’ve seen many VW powered trikes, but for some reason the thought of a Corvair powered one never crossed my mind.
That last one’s been bugging me all afternoon. A post on Corvair Center leads to this site, with seven photos:

“The car you see before you was inspired by Kaiser Aluminum designer Rhys Miller. It was designed and engineered by Blake Larson whose life long desire to produce a practical concept car resulted in this unique design, in which he was also hands on in the construction.
“His concept was to give the driver as much vision as possible and he therefore put the driver seat in the middle with center steering and two full car width seats behind the driver and a fully glassed enclosed area front and back (something you see coming out of Detroit in 2009 or 2010). He included the eye catching luggage rack and a glassed in area over the front portion of the car as part of the package.”
Sort of a space-age minivan. Thanks for not making this car a CC Clue.
On the page of custom Corvairs the Pinkish one FUBAR2 was built Goodies Speed Shop. That pic is from a cover of a mag it was on back when it was built. My high school friend’s father actually founded it back in the 60’s. So the cover of that mag along with may others were framed and on display in their house (garage). There were also framed pics of some of the early altered wheel base cars his shop sponsored. Along with things like coffee and end tables made from real Mag wheels and a Hemi block. http://goodies-speedshop.com/p-888-history.html
I had forgot all about that but one look at that pic of FUBAR2 and it all came back. He even had a couple of T-shirts and some stickers with the Logo that featured FUBAR or FUBAR2.
Here is FUBAR2
what! you missed this gem. for sale too.
