Last April, I could finally take clear pictures of all the fire fighting vehicles on display at the yearly held King’s Day celebrations in a small town nearby. Especially of the ones open to the public, quite literally, like this 2021 MAN TGM truck. I’ve put them in order from big to small, starting with a Benz tanker truck.
A 2022 Mercedes-Benz Actros 2842 6×2*4 (counter-steering tag axle) HAD, which means hydraulic auxiliary drive on the front axle. The truck’s tank capacity is 15,000 liters (3,963 US gallons).
The body comes from IFFS (Innovative Fire Fighting Solutions), the pump equipment from the Ruberg company.
2007 Volvo FM 4×2 truck with a Kenbri body and Rosenbauer fire fighting hardware. Aboard the Volvo is a 2,000 liter (528 US gallons) water tank.
There’s that MAN again, a 2021 TGM 4×2 Kenbri-Rosenbauer. And just like the Volvo, equipped with a 2,000 liter tank.
Moving into van territory now with a 2006 Volkswagen LT 35, powered by a Brazilian MWM inline-four, 2.8 liter turbodiesel.
And a 2016 Volkswagen Transporter (T6) 2.0 TDI.
Ending small, as mentioned, with this trailer-mounted Rosenbauer engine pump. A perfect fit for the Volkswagens.
There, that should do to smother the barn fire without any fuss. Now how about some more coffee?

I had to Google your title references. And I’ve lived maybe 100-120 miles from where that TV show, which aired totally in my lifetime, was set. Never seen a single episode. Of course, we don’t have too many MAN or VW fire trucks out here either. So as is so often the case here at CC, it was good learning something new. Thanks.
Aha, now I get it. You were thinking of ‘The Big Valley’, whereas I had this in mind (at 1:00, more precisely):
That’s not a fire in the barn. That’s just Audra. She was the hottest thing on the Barkley Ranch.
Interesting post……thanks Johannes
You’ll get a lot of coffee from a 2,000 litre tank…..;-)
Everything in its place and not a single mm of unused space. A nice change of scenery from our more conservative fire fighting vehicles in the US. The trucks are great but what immediately stood out to me is that purposefully eye-catching geometric paint job on the 2021 MAN TGM. Eventually it became clear the metamorphosis design was most certainly influenced by well known Dutch artist M. C. Escher. A very cool example of life imitating art.
Thanks Johannes
It’s called BKZ-striping (these days OOV striping) by Studio Dumbar, standard on all official assistance vehicles in the Netherlands, the Police included. See here for more pictures:

A fun note is that Rosenbauer trailer pump is powered by a BMW motorcycle engine. They started using the R1100R engines for large portable pumps in 2001.
