Standing out from the classic car crowd in November last year, and not only because of its size. Imported into the Netherlands at the end of 2020 and there has been no change of ownership since.
According to the Chevy’s Dutch registration, it’s powered by a 4.8 liter six-cylinder. So the Turbo-Thrift 292 it is, now bi-fuel (gasoline or LPG).
After converting kgs into lbs, the truck’s factory GVWR turned out to be 16,000 lbs. Yeah, that’s the C50 alright.
Its wheelbase is 133 inch, the shortest available. I wonder what type of body it had prior to the Fleetside XXL conversion. A very accurately done job though!
On the splash guards, the logo of the American Truck Historical Society, or simply the ATHS.
And Bill Allen’s handwriting brings us to North Kansas City, MO.
Ah yes, clearly a post-IFS medium-duty model of the first gen Chevy C/K-series!

Awesome truck!
A C50 (2 ton) with a bed is an odd duck. It does look like it may have been done when new but if so it was done at a dealer or upfitter as from the factory, I don’t think that was an option on a medium duty until Ford starting doing F-450’s that way some time in the last 20 years.
It’s a later conversion. This was not offered at the time.
Even as a Ford lover, I have to admit ,THAT, is one handsome truck. The perfect vehicle for the grown up Tonka lovin’ kid!
Nice old 4 wheel Chevy and the pickup conversion is cool, probably was a flatdeck or van body in a previous life.
Would love to have one saw a couple that were tow trucks and a couple of pick ups that belonged to fire departments but they were special orders
I’ve seen a few of these conversions over the years, mostly for farm or work. See more of them today, IH and F600 Fords. Today they’re not about purpose but to show how much money you have to piss away on toys.
Great restoration! The retro graphics, look fantastic.
Here’s a project in progress Ford version. ’73-’79 F-600. I lost track of it a couple of years ago, and never had opportunity to talk to the owner. Oh well.
Let’s try again.
Matt, images need to be JPEG format. Pixel dimensions should remain less than 1,400 by 1,400. Always works for me.
They have to be 1200 x 1200 px or less, as it now says next to the image select button. If they’re bigger, they will unfortunately get eaten.
Thank you. That’s great. I’ve routinely posted 1,800 x 1,400 for years. Never any issues.
Thanks Johannes for yet another great find from your neck of the woods. While almost everything about this truck goes against my personal design preferences I can’t take my eyes off it. With two Beer kegs a Bull bar, Bull horns for honking and Bull horns for poking and so much more, yet everything comes together and in proportion.
Yes, as a whole, it’s just perfect. Very professionally done too.
