Who’s lost? There’s the big black Navigator on the right with the rectangular tail lights or there’s the the big black Navigator on the left with the square tail lights… and all the way to the right is what they’ll have for lunch
I might be wrong but I can’t believe Ford is using the same platform after all these years. There’s what, 15 years between the two and it’s the same body shell? The doubled taillights on the earlier one always bothered me, reminded of of the Family truckster’s rear styling.
Yes, you are a little bit wrong, but your sentiments are right. IIRC, the 1st and 2nd gen Navigators are based off the 1997 F-150 (2nd gen had more work done to differentiate it from the Expy/F-150), but the 2007 is based off the P2 platform of the 2004-08 and 2009-current F-150’s.
What I mean by “sentiments” is that you’re probably implying that the Navigator is badly in need of an overhaul. And yes, you’re definitely correct there. Word on the ‘net is 2015 will bring a new Nav and Expy, with the EcoBoost in the Navigator and the 5.0 Coyote in the Expedition.
It sure looks like the body was never completely redesigned looking at the windows, doors, and overall profile. All that said, it has aged quite well… At least the Ford has. The Lincoln always looked top heavy but I loved a rental Navigator I had for a drive from Minneapolis to Billings. Perfect way to burn fuel. Too bad it was black with Illinois plates and in2008.
The older generation on the left looked 1000 times better than the newer one on the right. Ford really screwed this one up. Whenever I drive behind one, the stupid little tail pipe always makes me think of the bottom of a can of Red Bull. Awful. And don’t get me started on those massive chrome applicqués on the door moldings. It’s like they had asked one of those dingbats who puts 22 inch wheels and Buick ventiports on Chrysler 300’s to design this thing.
Two Navigators and a Cooper: One of the big guys to get us to our destination, the other one to lead us home, and the little guy can make barrels for the whiskey rations we will need on the journey.

The Mini is lost. It would be better if it was in the middle, I know.
2 = sea?
A BMC mini would fit between those Fords
The Mini is more fun!
Ford, or shall I say Lincoln truly dropped the ball on their pickup/SUV effort, totally owned by Escalades.

It is kinda “Truckster” like, I thought I was the only one who saw it.

I see two big black vans and an overpriced jewelry box on wheels.
