If you click on the picture, the fresh tree wound is quite obvious. I’m not sure how (or why) this transpired. When I first drove by on the way to the dump, I just assumed a kid had it parked that way just to be snotty. But when I came by on the way home, there were two Campus cops cars there, and they were obviously writing it up. And the tree had been hit.
I wonder if possibly the Ex somehow rolled by itself down the hill? Or why or how could someone do this behind the wheel?
College campus ……….. forgot the emergency brake when parking because of too much “beer” or hit the tree driving because of too much “beer” or the vehicle is not maintained well because of spending too much on “beer”, or simply all of the above.
Could have been a drunk who ditched the vehicle. Or it could have been stolen and ditched. Or could have broken down and ditched. Not sure if the person is reading a note or giving a ticket. That looks like a stripper version Expedition, wonder if it has crank windows? I think some of Denver RTD’s stripper 2nd generation Ford Explorers had crank windows.
Better the tree than the front of the apartment building, I say. I’d also be tempted to blame the combination of college students and various intoxicants…not being without experience in that area myself.
Could almost be their patrol car itself. In fact, IIRC the XLTs all had bodycolor door handles and moldings and these black ones would make it an even more basic trim which quite possibly was fleet-only.
Did he hit the tree or is he just getting a parking ticket?

Looks to be a low-optioned rarer XLT model. Seems like most of these I see now, and saw when newer were all gold-trimmed Eddie Bauers.

The torque might be there, but it looks like the front approach angle is not quite right for climbing trees.
This has intoxicated college student written all over it.
Almost had my sip of coffee come out nose. The ad on the banner next to the CC logo was for Merl’s Towing here in GR Michigan.
I’m wondering if the missing alloy wheel was a victim of a previous off road “Expedition”.
Dropped the phone while texting.
“The ‘Bait Car’ team were disappointed their newly acquired bait car received a ticket before performing its duty…”
Hahaha +1
This should be one of those caption contest or most likely scenario.
I gotta say though, this reeks of alcohol and I don’t mean the interior.
