In-period commercially available conversion. Most seem to have been Alfa service cars like this or police cars, also with blind quarter panels but this is the only one I’ve seen with the narrow flat rear window instead of one that properly fills out the top hatch.
I presume you could get a proper family wagon with windows all-around but in Italy the customers interested in that tended to buy Fiat’s fully mass-produced offering for much less money.
Full name: 1972 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1.6 Giardinetta, this one by coachbuilder Colli. First registration in NL (Nov. 22, 1972), originally used as a service van by the Dutch Alfa Romeo importer/organization.

It’s hard to choose one of those, maybe the Alfasud Giardinetta as it’s smaller and only two doors .
I really like the 1952 woody but from long experience I avoid wooden bodied or wheeled vehicles like the plague .

This is so cool! I would love to own this but I’m not a masochist and the regular maintenance would likely sour the love affair quickly.
