Quite a sight. Calls to mind my happy times with Hiab knuckle booms. Loved the 300 series best. Tough work horses. The sound of them in operation and the movements always reminded me of an amusement park ride. Thank you for bringing them to us!
There will be more soon. When visiting a dedicated show for such trucks and tractors, where around 175 of them show up, the pictures’ background can get a bit ‘distracting’ since all booms were raised straight up…
Ah yes. I’ve spent many hours on smaller versions of the above working on street/parking lot lighting. First few minutes I’m holding on for dear life. A gentle breeze goes by and grabbing the rail. After a while it’s like a dance, it sways one way, I move my hips the other and I don’t even notice.
I think the rule of thumb on these is you don’t want to work over ~2/3 of it’s rated height. Yeah, they don’t tip over much, but the pucker factor when you get up close to the limits will work you. A heavy breather 10 feet off the ground feels like a hurricane when you’re waaaaaay up there.
