It’s nice to see some color. I’m interested in the Mazda CX-5, as it’s about the only CUV available with a proper clutch pedal. The CX-5 is available in several interesting colors – UNLESS you want a clutch. Then you get a choice of black, gray, or silver.
You can’t order a CX-5 with a manual transmission in other colors, or are those just the only ones available at dealer lots near where you live? I can’t imagine Mazda wouldn’t build one that way for you (unless I’m seriously misunderstanding how an assembly line works – they get painted after the transmission goes in).
The picture is perfect in all but one respect – the Saturn should have been a Mopar of some sort. The American Big 3, all in the same color.
This was one of the colors offered on our Honda Fit. Because there was no tan interior available with that (or any) color (besides white), the Mrs. would have none of it. I kind of like it.
I remember those Pepsi blue Saturns. Almost bought one but the dealer wouldn’t negotiate, so I went across the street to the Chevy dealer and bought a new dark blue Cavalier which I’m still driving today with 197,000 trouble free miles. Thanks no haggle Saturn dealer!
Unfortunately, lost with the no haggling in Heaven was the nice feeling of no ripoff (assuming you weren’t some insanely internet savvy negotiating god). You knew ahead of time what the car would cost. Now it was up to you to accept or reject the price.
My dad had one of those Z24s. His was a white 2001, which is what I’m sure this is. Really nice car. He still remembers it fondly as do I. Was too young to drive it but I don’t recall it lacking in power.
He sold it and the girl that bought it later wrecked it and I guess she liked it so much that she called my dad to see if he had another one.
The few Z24s that I see around are usually 98-00 I think cause they never have those rims.
Those Z24 wheels remind me a lot of the classic Porsche Fuchs wheels. I remember seeing a new one in the showroom at Mills Chevrolet back in 1999 or 2000 in light green.
That wheel design didn’t last long; maybe Porsche had a word with GM brass?
All ’90s bright blue, at that – it’s a more popular color now than it was then.

What gives, Mazda?

Nice. That’s quite a coincidence considering the silver/taupe dullery of today.

RIP Saturn… No haggling in Heaven,

The bad thing with the Saturn no-haggle strategy was that the dealer would really screw you (even more so than the one you usually got) on your trade.

The styling on these is even refreshing from the exaggerated shapes and curves on modern cars. On GM cars I believe that was “Quasar Blue”.
