Very nice and clean. This is taken in the Loop area?
Mine is a bit more rough around the edges. It has the dropped from a coffee table markings from when I was a kid, and the craft like hand painted rear brake lights. Also non standard rubber tires creating an unintended low rider look.

Holy breakdowns, that’s damn-near a ringer for the one I grew up riding in, albeit with rust where this one has chips! Also, ours had a more violent (factory) green hue.
Fully loaded, with eight up plus camping gear and roof rack and trailer and 1200cc, I reckon it was probably no faster than this one too….
I always loved how Corgi Toys had better springs that Matchboxes. This little VW had a good bounce to it. This one was made in Great Britain, unlike the one in which you rode.
I see the FTD logo on the front door and the flowers on the side. So is this a rolling ad for them?

With those Hot Wheels looking rims that V-Dub is sporting, I thought that you were up to your old tricks again using a model car for the photography, Joseph.
A few years back, you shot this Maverick Grabber, and it (like your in-motion shots) really showed off your skills with that camera!

1500 yes, but 53HP. 1300s were 50, early 1500s were 51 and later ones were 53, in US trim. Ah, all those things I still remember from almost 50 years ago. Not sure if that’s good or bad.
Ah, those old VWs were at once so great and so terrible. Way cool and would haul a literal ton, but the engines just worked too hard pushing all that air at freeway speed.
Very clever and very effective. More than any color a deep black background automatically relaxes ones eyes to the point you can feel it. At least I can feel it. Allowing the eyes to instantly lock onto the subject matter. Oh, and yes, that Transporter is also a rolling work of art.

My mum drove our horror-wagon as if it looked like this one, with verve and risk, even though it actually resembled Moparlee’s one.
And she was a take-no-crap-from-men type from the days before it was allowed, and grew her kids that way. I think she’d approve of this bus, and the day itself.
Your Mum sounds very cool!
Proud, independent ladies who “take no crap from men” are wonderful – I married one, she is a great mother to our son and I am very proud of her…
