(Update: we have a couple of new COALers signed up. Thanks.) Our two current Cars Of A Lifetime (COAL) series are both heading towards conclusions, so it’s time to draft a couple of new COALers. COAL has become an institution here, and we all would love to hear more stories about the cars in your life. And I know there’s a whole bunch of you out there who have them. I did get some extra names the last time I asked, but it’s probably best to start the process over.
We need folks who are willing to commit to drafting up one car/story per week, and who can write them up in a passable way. Since the current series still have a couple of weeks, it’s a chance to get a bit ahead before they go live. If you’re ready, willing and able, send me an e-mail with your list of cars, and preferably, a draft of the first one. Please don’t think your cars, writing or stories aren’t good enough. They are. And we’ll polish them as needed. Send it to curbsideclassic@gmail.com
We’re also happy for any other submissions, like a one-time COAL or such.
I’d apply, but it’d be a three week series. 🙂
That’s a possibility too. I’ve got a couple new COALer’s signed up, but send me the list of your three cars. E-mail is in the post above.
I got great feedback from my first one – I’ve just got to settle down to writing a few more. Rest assured I haven’t forgotten.
Does a 2009 Rav4 qualify? If so, I have a 2nd one to contribute. Car’s still with us so I’ll have pictures too. I know, it’s not glamorous…
I wold like to do a COAL from Brazil, but my material is short, it gona be only one post
We welcome one-time COAL posts too. It doesn’t have to be a series.
I might be game…I had the opportunity to buy/drive/flip about a dozen BMWs, 9 MBs, a Jaguar, 2 Saabs, 2 Audis, and several Cadillacs when I was working at a luxury bodyshop…the most I ever spent was $1500, and this was from around 2004-2010. What I don’t really have is photos…lost those when my laptop crapped the bed.
I’m kind of the same as cincydavid. had a ton of cars, some interesting, some just weird(my mum’s favourite comment on the subject was that if someone had an unwanted, orphan car my dad or I would have to give it a home) but due to having to throw out everything I owned after 2 bedbug invasions, I have no pictures either.
GAH ~ we had a very short timer Foster boy who brought us bedbugs ~ those suckers are hard to get rid of ! .
SWMBO threw out my special hard as a rock back supportive mattress when I was at work one day .
Daily cleanings , sprayings , , we eventually killed them off a month after he was gone .
Bring on the C.O.A.L. stories ! .
I love reading ’em .

My problem is that I never seem to sell vehicles. I’ve had a couple of interesting ones, but it’s hard to write a story when the story is still writing itself…
I have a few, 1977 Chrysler Cordoba, 1988 Eagle Premier, 1991 Eagle Talon, 1986 Dodge Omni and 1993 Dodge Spirit (out of the dozen cars I have owned, those 5 are my favorites
I’d almost rather have bedbugs than the fleas that our 15 year old Schnoodle seems to have brought home again. My wife’s ankles are getting bitten up and they leave me alone. Lots of vacuuming, spraying and running sheets/blankets, etc through the dryer.
trust me, I’d take fleas over bedbugs any day. our apartment building has been battling them for a few years now as the owner is too @#$% cheap to properly fumigate.
along with my pictures, and furniture(twice!) the one that really did me in was my book collection. I had car mags by the hundreds including a compete set of motor trend from the very first edition right thru. I had always been a car nut and family that gave me car books Christmases and birthdays for 40 years. all in the trash.
I had read about people who had become so desperate that they had literally walked out with the clothes on their backs. I fully get that now and if there is a third round and I don’t lose what’s left of my sanity I may do the same.
I wouldn’t curse bedbugs on my worst enemy and although I may be a first generation Canadian, I come from a long line of proud Scotsmen and believe me, we do curses better than anybody!! 😉
