Yesterday I received a text from an unfamiliar number, turned out it was from David, the fellow that purchased my Porsche from me exactly a year ago (has it been that long already?) Apparently, he is very much enjoying it and the car is doing well, to wit: “Hey Jim, Today last year I bought your 911. If you’re curious how it is, the car has been nothing short of fantastic and one of the best decisions of my life. I’ve made a few changes but nothing drastic Cheers!” He also included two photos.
It looks like he’s made a few changes that take the car to the next level, I’m assuming there’s some stuff underneath as well that’s new as it looks lower, but the rear wing is much larger, the OZ wheels are a larger size and look great, as well as what seems to be a different (larger?) front splitter along with a 911 badge instead of the Carrera script on the rear decklid and a different exhaust. Oh, and the license plate is great, if you can’t see it, it’s “LOL IMS”, which is perfect for this car with its factory replaced engine that shouldn’t ever suffer from the (perhaps overblown) malady.
I hope you keep enjoying your car, David, and thanks for the update! I also felt it was one of the best decisions I ever made and am glad that after doing everything with it that I wanted to it has found a good home with a very appreciative owner. Keep on enjoying it, it is one of the best Cars Of A Lifetime that I ever had and looks like it’s the same for you!

I am glad to hear your Porsche is doing well with the new owner. I really enjoyed reading about your Porsche when you owned it. I have only driven one 911, a 996 like yours, and it was a fabulous experience. The changes to the car look nice too, in particular the wheel and tire upgrade.
Nice pictures! And he’s done some tasteful updates. I can tell he’s in love. Nice to know it turned out so well.
This is a nice change from many of the “Hey, I just saw my old car” stories we are used to. Of course, yours was a specialized car that was teed up for a special owner, so the odds of a good outcome were in your favor. It’s a lot better than “My girlfriend got high and ran it into a guardrail. Ya got anything else good ya wanna sell?” 🙂
Sometimes things do end on a happy note! I’m glad to see it went to a truly appreciative new owner.
Great to know that it’s being enjoyed and appreciated! For most of us, cars are more than an appliance, so knowing that it went to someone else with the same attitude is a blessing.
This summer’s fires in Colorado are a tragedy, but they lend dramatic effect to these photos!
This is very nice to see. Thank you for sharing it. Glad your care in finding a good owner worked out so well. The photos are beautiful.
