Spotted this base model “Oldsmobile sucking on a Lemon” on the way home from my golf club.
Of course there are many similarities between the futility of my golf and the poor sales of the Edsel. (’58 Ranger 4dr)
The trunk badge and general shape of the back end look like a 1962 full-sized Plymouth, but the tail lights don’t look like any I’ve ever seen. Maybe a Canadian-market Plymouth or Dodge?
In your travels, might you run across junk yards that have old stuff? I need hubcaps for a second series ’55 Chevy pickup, 3/4 ton. The 3/4 ton ’56s are the same. The 1/2 tons’, of which there are plenty, are smaller…..won’t work!

I don’t know a lot about the truck or owner, but it lives just up the block from me. It is gone a lot so I know it is a daily driver. I rarely see anything so perfectly rusted without being rusted through (and is that lichen, mold, some kind of deep sea encrustation?) .
I know several guys who would like to achieve this effect on their rat-rods but I guess it’s difficult or expensive to do. I’m not a paint and body guy so I don’t know.
Anyway, since it kind of unique (and I love the business name) I wanted to share it with you and the gang.

Well, John, if I come across one I would be delighted to write something on it. When I was in high school, my mother owned a 74 Luxury LeMans sedan. I have always considered it the best looking of all of the colonade sedans. Although the Pontiac 350 with the 2 barrel carb was better at sucking gas than it was at motivating the car, the car was actually a very good handling package. Don’t ask me how I know. 🙂
The great thing about CC is that all of the authors and contributors here call them how they see them. Any given car will hit different people different ways. A car that gives one guy nostalgic warm fuzzies will get another guy’s dander up. It looks like you have a really nice Pontiac there. Maybe you could even submit a “My Curbside Classic” for the rest of us to enjoy. Anyhow, we are glad to hear from you.
John, I love 67-69 Thunderbirds, especially the suicide 4 door (I had a 64 T-Bird ‘vert). The 73-75 Grand Am was hot, especially with a 455. A cross between a GTO and Grand Prix.

My Grand Am is the 400 but it is a four barrel and I ripped the Malaise Era exhaust off from the manifold back and installed a 3″ “X” Pipe system with Flowmasters! Topped off by a set of Trans Am Chrome splitters exiting behind each wheel. How she should have been built! I did run across a 1973 455 Sunroof Car a couple years ago. It was in decent shape- def worth restoring!

This Merc has been sitting on the street or in the alley for the last 12 years. I found several black plate cars. A nice mix of old cars.

From what I’ve read, a few of you seem to travel a lot and come across some rare vehicles. I’ve been looking for a particular truck for many, many years now and have not even come close to finding one. I believe they were made back in Ohio? in the early to mid 30’s. They were semi tractors and the name on them was Relay. The company also had one called the Continental I believe. Anyway, any information or pictures of the Relay would be great. The truck is pretty sharp looking but the really interesting thing about them is they had two engines and two transmissions. Can’t for the life of me imagine how they could work but apparently they, at least for a few years anyway. So all you motor vehicle nuts, help a guy out if you can. Thanks!

Yes I have couple of photos somewhere I go there a lot he has a restored Fergusson 35 petrol he want me to paint and its diesel Ford cousin a Dexta and earlier fordsons and stationary engines and Hillmans and a boxcar of old fones he has some cool shit.
His White is a 1ton truck same as the equivalent car that year 4 banger but the radiator is isolated from the chassis in shock absorbers now hows that for a clever innovation way back when

Just uploaded a bunch of photos to the Cohort of a 1988 BMW 325i E30 for this seeming BMW streak. The car has an interesting history, seeing as how it’s an Arizona car brought to West Virginia and registered with Ohio Plates. It’s an American-market convertible with fuel injection. Yes. Fuel injection. Anyways, the car’s in good shape for how old it is and would make a worthwhile CC.

It’s a Prevost LeMirage. Prevost is a Canadian manufacturer. The LeMirage came out in 1976 and was built for a very long time, until not that long ago. This one looks like it’s from the late 70s or 80s, but it’s hard to tell. Undoubtedly it came from NY, since it says “Buffalo” on the destination sign.

I hope you’ll consider a Honda Week at some point in the future (I don’t think you’ve done one, have you?). While Toyota has a longer reputation in the US and in Japan of car and truck production, they established their reputation in the US by building very dependable but conventional RWD vehicles. In contrast, Honda seemed to go for the niche market of FWD small cars, and they were exceptionally innovative in their early years in the US. In some ways, Toyota’s recent innovations have surpassed Honda’s (especially in hybrid technologies), yet Honda remains an interesting case study in juxtaposition to Toyota.
