Here’s a teaser that somewhat goes with Paul’s chop-top Astro van. I’m currently at the world’s busiest airport for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) Airventure air show. These modified VW Beetles have been a fixture here for decades. Fewer in number these days, it’s still great to see them shuttling pilots and show staff back and forth around the show.
Stay tuned for more…
Oshkosh, by gosh!
Boss! De Plane! De Plane!
Anyone who’s up more on such things than I am care to offer an opinion as to what vintage this Beetle is? Late ’60s, maybe?
My guess is 1967 – first year of flat hubcaps and last year of old-style bumpers with the bumperguards. But there are a lot more folks with a lot more VW experience than me. It is, however, 5 pm on a Friday here, and maybe I am as good as you will get for awhile. 🙂
I agree, although the cars at Oshkosh often tend to be mutts…
