Speaking of CC Meet-Ups, I’m going to be in Towson, MD. August 3-5 to celebrate my mother’s 95th birthday. This would only be a social event, as my schedule is limited, and I have my disabled daughter with me. The possibilities are Friday evening and either Saturday or Sunday morning. It’s not a big deal, but if there’s a few of you that are interested, let me know.
Anyone Want to Meet Up In Towson on Aug. 3, 4, or 5?

Well that’s closer, but I’m on vacation elsewhere that week. My employer has an office in Jessup, too bad I have no excuse to be there at the time…
Happy birthday to Ma Niedermeyer. We just had my mother’s 81st (and likely her last 🙁 ) birthday this past week.
Let me know when something is happening in NYC.
Third or fifth would definitely be workable for me. Some nice weather and a good excuse to get one of the bikes out.
AACA Museum in Hershey, PA is 80 mi. from Towson.
Might be a good place for a meet-up. Any chances?
Sounds appealing, but it might be difficult to fit in. Friday is a possibility, but that may not be good for others. Saturday is out. And we fly out Sunday evening (7PM), so that’s a possibility. But I would have to find someone to stay with my daughter, as I don’t know she’d be willing to look at that many cars. 🙂 Maybe.
No worries — family’s the priority on a short visit —
happy 95th, Paul’s mom !
Paul,
I’ll be most interested in meeting up with you when you get to Towson. I am in Alexandria, VA but can take a quick drive up there after I get off work.
And I’ll plan on bringing my 1989 Volvo 740 with 308k miles – a true CC that you’d be interested in looking at.
I live little more than an hour away — I’d enjoy meeting up in Towson if your schedule permits. I think I’ll be generally free on Saturday & Sunday, so later on, if/when you know a time that would work, just let me know!
Towson is 6 miles west of here as the crow flies. I’d love a chance to meet the man that has made my favorite website possible!
Sounds like you have your busy day on Saturday Paul, but about 9 miles north of Towson is Hunt Valley (where the mall used to be… it’s outdoor shopping now), and every Saturday morning between 8 and 10 they have a Cars and Coffee there. I went for the first time a few weeks back and they get a rather eclectic collection of cars there.
This Coronet and the Stude next to it caught my eye that day…
Website with info if you’re curious…. we could gather at one of the places there for breakfast, say Panera or whatever…

Full Disclosure: I’m not a member of this club, but their website says all are welcome. They were a very freindly bunch of guys and gals from what I could see that day.
That’s probably the best option. Thanks.
Paul, I wish I could!! How fun it would be to meet in the parking lot of your high school! I was once there and saw a restomoded Chevelle wagon. Anyway, I need to leave Maryland and head up to Massachusetts for my mother’s 80th birthday! Sorry to miss you!
I’m interested. Only an hour south of Towson.
My son lives in Baltimore, but I think the CC gene mostly skipped him. And our 10 year old Prius, which he now owns, probably wouldn’t be of much interest either, I suspect 🙂
Some love for 10-yr. old Prii, Dman !!
Bought mine off-the-lot when gas was $4.25/gal. Altho a base model, it has every convenience I’d ever need. Curiously, however, it’s the only ’08 I’ve seen without a back-up camera.
Routine maintenance, one repair (water pump replacement), careful driving, and 85,000 mi. later, I’m still getting 50 mpg summer & 42 in winter.
Our (we’ll, our son’s) water pump is still original at 125K. The backup camera was an option in ’08, bundled into the lowest price option package with stability control and one or two other minor gadgets for a few hundred $$. Every ‘08 in the lot at our dealer in Palo Alto had this package at the minimum. I don’t remember what gas cost then but I think it must have been at a temporary low, as Prius inventory was huge and we paid well below list in Nov 2007.
A very happy birthday to your Mother, Paul. Mine’s a sprightly 86 and I will be seeing her in a few days now. Shooting my Nephew’s wedding in Scotland on the 4th of August; so that’s a big rain check from me. Have a safe trip and a merry celebration with your family.
Eight an a half hours, and an international border ???
I wish your Mom a very happy birthday.
Friday evening or early-ish on Saturday would work for me. Would be terrific to finally meet the eccentric people whose writing I read daily. I am less than an hour away.
What a coincidence my mother is celebrating her 95th birthday on 08/03. Happy birthday to our mom’s.
I’m 4 hours away but I’m always up for a road trip in the one the classics
I’m in. My family will be out of town and perusing this site has been a downtime pleasure…hope to thank you in person for your efforts……
By the way, you are very fortunate to still have your mom at 95. Every moment matters!
I would be interested. I’d like to meet some of the people behind the keyboards. An interesting bunch of like-minded souls, I’m sure. However, I’m still trying to unload…err…sell my POS ‘12 Grand Cherokee, and I doubt I’ll have a new ride by then. Currently I’m driving assorted trade-ins (quintessential CC’s!) from the wholesale lot at the dealership I work at; nothing I’d be allowed to rack a couple thousand miles on, or really want to. Best wishes to your mother on her 95th.
Paul, I can’t make it out, but happy 95th to your mother!
