(Note: the rest of Peugeot Fest will be chronological, so the 404 is still a bit ways off. And we’ve got lots of 404 material. But we’ll make an exception for this one to help us kick of the festivities. PN)
To celebrate Peugeot Fest, Curbside Classic would like every reader to have their own Peugeot 404 wagon. Y’all who know Paul’s automotive passions also know this model is pretty much the CC mascot (along with Jason’s 63 Galaxie – sorry no cutout on that one), so here’s your chance to add some French flair to your garage, study or mantlepiece.
And for those of you from *the other sites*, you too can have a Peugeot 404 wagon in your own livery. Just add your own livery.
Click on the pics to get them as large as I could make them. It’s about 37 cm x 26 cm at 72 dpi, but you should be able to make it fit your printer paper.
This is SO cool guys, and YES, Jason’s ’63 Galaxie is a MUST. One of you clever guys will have to post a cardboard cutout of one of those.
This printable model kind of reminds me of those kids meals you get a Cheeburger Cheeburger (and yes, they only serve Pepsi, not Coke products in case you were curious). The kids meals come in a “Cardboard Classic” like ’55 T-Birds, ’56 Chevys, and ’66 Mustangs, as well as this popular favorite below, a ’57 Belair….
If I remember correctly, there was a Pinto cutout on a cereal box in the early 70’s. Can any one find it??
Tried to Google, but no hit!!!
You’d have to be careful not to drop the cereal box —Boom! LOL!
In the Chicago suburb of Berwyn, at the Harlem-Cermak shopping center, there used to be a full-size Pinto cutout.
That cutout was actually in one of the early Pinto Brochures available at the dealer. I got one, cut it out, assembled it and put it on my dresser. Several months later I bought a brand new factory-ordered Pinto…Dark Metallic Green over Saddle Interior…2000cc 4-Speed with Racing Mirrors and Goodyear Polyglas RWL Tires. 45 years later I can remember my first drive off the dealer lot like it was yesterday!
Ford Australia had a later-style Mark II Escort cutout as a promotional item, in about 1/20 scale. It was the’hottest model available at the time, a GL 2 door with the 2.0 engine badge, yellow with black side stripes. I got mine bound between the pages of an issue of Modern Motor. Hardest part was gluing the tyre treads to the tyres. I’ll see if I’ve still got it.
This is cute. If Jason’s cutout would be his Galaxie and Paul this 404, what would our other authors’ cutouts be?
A 59 Plymouth Fury for me. At least today. 🙂
