As promised, here are the details for Tomorrow’s CC Meet Up:
To review, our destination is an early morning car show held the first Saturday of every month on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It’s located in the parking lot of the Peninsula Center, near the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and Silver Spur Road, and runs from 7:30 to 9:00 AM.
Here’s a link with directions to the Center: http://www.peninsulashoppingcenter.com/directions
If you’d prefer to use geo tracking, here are the global coordinates: 33° 46′ 31.96″, -118° 22′ 33.33″
When I announced this event on Sunday, a number of posters felt that Palos Verdes is a bit far from the nearest freeway. While there’s never one perfect location, every location has it’s own unique advantages. In this case, being far from a freeway equals no traffic and spectacular views. After the event, attendees can head south on Hawthorne Boulevard to its terminus on the Pacific Ocean, and then cruise southeast towards San Pedro and Long Beach, or northwest towards the beach cities on Santa Monica Bay.
The event lacks a hospitality area or food court to act as a rendevous spot, but I’ll be there bright and early in my black “Wheatridge Speed Shop” shirt (modeled above, complete with an image of the backside artwork). It’s a gift from my good buddy Rhino, and I’ve been looking for an excuse to wear it for a while. Look for this shirt, and I’ll act as the rendevous point.
Sunday’s comments also mentioned that 7:30 AM seems really early, but this also works to our advantage- At that time of day, there’s nothing else to do!
So I hope to see a few hardy souls tomorrow, and for those who prefer to sleep in, look for other LA Meet-Ups in the future, held a bit later in the day.
See you soon,
D/S
Be sure to post some pictures you guys!
Hope you do another SoCal meeting soon – I can’t make this one as sons and I are Scouting. Have fun.
Oh my gosh! I know right where this is…I used to live up the street from this shopping center…I even attended Rolling Hills High for part of my freshman year in high school.
I guess it’s been a while for you, Dave- Rolling Hills High School is now Peninsula High. It’s the same campus, but they renamed the school they opened a second High School in the disrict, called Palos Verdes High. D/S.
All the best Dave. As I am about 1,800 miles away I will not be able to attend, but hope you all have a lot of fun!
And let me echo MikePDX: Let’s see some cool car pics!
Have fun everybody! Wish I could come….
@ Dave…I had no idea the name was changed. It’s been a number of years (well, okay, many many years) since I’ve been in high school, and Rancho Palos Verdes is but a distant memory. I was out that way back in 2010, but didn’t notice the high school.
