I was on my way to work and had to stop and grab a quick shot of this.
If you’re thinking “What the..?” it’s significant that this was shot just one block from the local university campus. As Paul has written about elsewhere, it has also become a thing in Canada for foreign students to drive exotic and/or interestingly decorated cars. I am making a bit of an assumption, but I suspect that is the case here. Although it is possible that someone’s grandmother stopped in for a pancake on her way home after all night bingo.
This one instantly reminded me of the dazzle ship camoflauge used during WW1 and WW2, although that may not be the intended effect. The probability of torpedo attack in the Pancake House parking lot seems pretty low.
I went back to my plain ol’ blue car and went to work. Same planet, different worlds 🙂
That’s a sample car, showcasing Audi’s entire current color range.
What a great response!
Ba-dum! “I’ll be here all week – try the veal!”
That was a genuine LOL 🙂
Nev-R-Kleen Black
I’m-Getting-A-Wrap-Next-Week White
German Leasing Silver
And finally “I Don’t Like Black White Or Silver” Gray.
Woof. Some folk’s taste…
Tacky treatment for such a nice car.
Wraps are popular. There’s a place here that specializes in wrapping the exotic cars the rich foreign students drive here.
That seems more like urban camouflage than dazzle which, frankly, doesn’t seem like all that great of an idea from a safety standpoint.
OTOH, one of the primary reasons for dazzle was so the enemy couldn’t accurately judge the size or length of the ship. In that regard, maybe someone would do a dazzle job on a car in a Freudian attempt to, ahem, compensate, for shortcomings in other areas, i.e., to make one’s ‘car’ appear bigger than it really is. I’m thinking a dazzle…Yaris…
That look is/was a “thing” in Europe for some of the faster Audi’s over the last couple of years. I’ve seen it on an RS6 and a couple of others. Not sure if it would be “me” but it’s interesting and eye-catching if that’s the goal…
A variation on the theme: Koi Camouflage by Cam Shaft.
Tesla! Camo creates a “radar proof” finish, right
Black, on white primer, peeling off in big sheets.
Proof that everybody needs a good pancake from time to time.
Dazzle camouflage for those Saturday afternoon runs upbound on the Red Hill. Confuse-a-cop. You should stop by across the road where a Mercedes 560sel has been slowly returning to the earth for more than a decade and a half. It’s behind another local landmark. Try the beef.
