There should be a CC on the bad guys’ cars in Breaking Bad. From Walter White’s Aztek, to his wife’s Grand Wagoneer, to Pinkman’s Toyota Tercel wagon, to Mike’s Fifth Avenue, they all fill the bill. Even Walter’s beat-up last cars, the Volvo and the old seventies’ Cadillac (“Does it have the 500 engine?”) and Pinkman’s Monte ‘CPN COOK’ Carlo are good.
Who knows, maybe sometime in the future the more current, modern cars that were featured on the show (Walter’s 300, Flynn’s PT Cruiser/Challenger, and Hank’s Grand Cherokee) will be CC worthy, as well.
They did some fantastic “car casting” on that show, Gus Frings Volvo wagon, Skinny Petes 1970 Thunderbird and Badgers Fiero Formula, someone really had some fun “car casting” Breaking Bad.
+1. Though I knew I’d have to be independently wealthy to drive one every day (rather than just on snow days), I often wished I could.
The traction, the comfort, the styling, the driving position and visibility, the relatively decent power – all were big pluses. But its unquenchable thirst for fuel, and unstoppable tendency to rust, were much less desirable.
I still wish the later ones would have had FI and overdrive (and eliminate the vacuum-actuated 4WD while you’re down there). Now THAT would have been a keeper!
The original Escalade, I remember an article that stated that the owners of these had the highest household income of any other make in the US back in the 80’s.
What a lovely looking Jeep and judging from the minimal rust I assume this SUV is not a Lincoln State native. Sometimes I feel like buying a 1st generation Cadillac Escalade ESV or EXT and using it as a work truck like Paul does with his F-100 or like this Jeep.
Did you know that in at least one state (OR) trailers with a Gross Weight of a ton or less do not require a license plate?
The pictured Jeep is no newer than a 1983 or so as it has the older style taillights….When the full sized Cherokee was replaced by the downsized Cherokee and Wagoneer in 1984, the vertical style taillights from the fullsize Cherokee were moved to the fullsize Wagoneer which was renamed Grand Wagoneer. …Grill changes and revised woodgrain and woodgrain trim would arrive by 1987 for the Grand…
Does anybody else here think about the Bill Murray comedy “What About Bob?” when they see one of these? Richard Dreyfuss’ character (aka Dr. Marvin) had a snazzy looking Grand Wagoneer. Just what you need for taking a vacation from your problems.
I’ve always liked this generation Jeep Wagoneer. Probably more than the downsized version that replaced it.
Damned that Breaking Bad! Now every time I see one of these I think of Heisenberg’s wife.

Love it. That trailer seems set up for quite an impressively sized boat.
Still one of my dream cars. Grand Wagoneer, 360, 4×4, soft leather, chrome strips in the carpeted cargo area… mmmmmmmmmmm

Who says luxury SUVs can’t do “real” work?

There’s a company in Texas that restores Grand Wagoneers and sells them (with no difficulty) for ridiculous money. $45-$55K sort of ridiculous.

I love these Jeeps. In my daydreams where I have a lot more money, a refurbished Grand Wagoneer would be one of the many cars in my garage.
The only SUV I would truly want in the driveway.
(I would buy a Slade or Denali in a world where only MY 2014-15 cars were available or legal to drive…in other words under duress)

Yes, John Candy also drove one of these in The Great Outdoors, opposite Dan Ackroyd’s 560SEL.
“Cigarette, Bob? Oh! Sorry, didn’t see you in that straitjacket! Ah ha ha ha ha!”
Hank actually drove a Jeep Commander (xk) in Breaking Bad. I have one and it reminds me of my 88 GW.
