“Tommy Toyota secretly wondered if old Fred Ford still went to work every day because he needed the money or because he just needed something to do. Either way, the old guy could still put in a pretty good day’s work.”
(T.T. and F.F., both coming down from a workout. The young Turk cast an uncomfortable eye towards the old lion. He was impressed that ‘old Effy’ was still able to put in a day’s work; nonetheless, T.T. was distressed to be confronted with his own mortality. It was true what they said about the slow fade to gray…and the hunchback! Worst of all, it was true that the thing that drove F.F., his very virility…hung so low! T.T. took solace in his shiny baubles, his sharp outfit…and thought of an old song. “Hope my bed rots out/before I get old,” he sang softly,)
(Yoda voice) ““Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained.”
There was something with the early 60s 4wd Fords- for a while they weren’t available with the smoothside bed, only the stepside. When Ford got around to building a smoothside, there was some interference, so an earlier bed was used. Not everything lined up.
(Husky, manly, cowboy voice over…) “One of these two trucks works for a living… I’ll let you guess which one…”

$5 says the T won’t be around as long as the F.
Amen to that!
“The 90s weren’t good to you, were they?”
+1
Mike, I admire your eye and the fact that this screamed for a caption.
Thanks! These things just present themselves.
F.F: Stupid young accessories models! Pssh! Tasteless, classless, and ugly! Pffffff!
T.T: I’m so manly! I’m so manly! I’m so manly! Etc…
Lift Kits! Rendering pickup trucks useless and ridiculous for over 40 years.
Up close that Ford looked darned useful and well used. Oregon mud gets deep.
The Toyota, well, let’s just say it didn’t look like it had been to boot camp.
The local VA office is in a building served by this parking lot. Our local veterans drive a wide variety of vehicles there.
It’s like if Clint Eastwood and Matt Damon were sitting opposite each other…..
Yes, nice, that is certainly the Clint Eastwood of trucks. It’s even related to the Gran Torino.
” You look good, kid, but whattaya say we see which one of us can knock over that pine tree first.”
…fir tree.
Why is the Ford’s rear wheel not centered in the wheelwell?
