Let’s pay a visit to these vintage dealers and see what’s for sale. So far, I’ve only located two of them. The Buick All Square -above- was located in Virginia, and the one below with the hot rod meet was in Oakland. Some of you may locate the rest. But be careful, I’m not responsible for any purchase you might make.
The Caddy Corner would be my choice! Love those land YACHTS, especially factory limos. But on a more relevant note, when Pontiac was dropped, long time Buick agency was stripped and franchise given to newer higher volume Pontiac agency. 🤔. So much for loyalty. Buick went to Mazda and is still going. As always it’s all about the big bucks $$$. Know I’m old school, but this situation REALLY ticks me off.
I’ll take the Chevy Fastback at the Buick dealer!
I recall that Caddy Corner on US46 as a kid in Bergen County, NJ. The 201 area code on the sign may affirm that.
Caddy Corner or Fleetwood Forecourt?

OK Used Cars is in Canada. Plodge in the first row (Concord fastback with Dodge front).
Definite Cheviac in the second row. Probable Cheviac in the front row but can’t tell for sure.
Caddy Corner used to be in Little Ferry NJ at the RT46 Circle.
It has since changed hands and is called CASPIAN SEA AUTO SALES, 136 BERGEN TURNPIKE, LITTLE FERRY, NJ.
Its looks a bit smaller but the building is still there.
I’d be happy with any of them except the Pontiac in the first photo. Never liked them.
The Buick and Olds convertibles at the end of the row in the first shot look mighty appealing now.
4th shot, the A-1 used cars (apparently Ford’s used car “brand”) – I had never appreciated the growth in bulk from 1949-51 to 1952 in Ford’s cars. That 51 Ford sedan looks positively petite in that lineup.
That final shot had to have been around 1979-80, with those big 1974 Chevys priced so cheaply. That reminds me of about every lot around Muncie, Indiana around that time – there were about three GM plants in the general area and car lots were filled to the brim with big GM iron they were trying to move.
Wonder what color the “Maverick Grabber”, in that pic, is??
Yes, “A-1” was Ford’s used car brand, pushed just as hard as Chevrolet’s “OK” used cars. A couple other marques attempted branding their used car lots back in the 50’s, but nobody’s took off like Ford and Chevrolet.
Hard to choose one, as I’m a Bow Tie fanboi I’d like one of the Chevy Coupes early 50’s .

I wonder which one of those two guys is the real Dick Scott?
As I get older I find myself drawn more to early 50’s cars, like the plain Jane ’51 Ford at Dick Scott’s or the Chevy Fleetline at the Buick dealer. There’s a simple honesty to them which is very attractive.
There’s also a sweet Crown Vic parked on the street outside Golden State Tires. It’s not for sale, but being the 1950’s maybe the owner left the keys in the ignition.
In the same picture, can anyone identify the small import convertible behind the flamed Ford coupe?
Hillman Minx.
Page-Hughes Buick was located not to far from where I live. It was only in operation as a Buick dealership for about 10 years – from the very early 1950s until 1961, when the owners switched to a Ford franchise. I think this happened in part by buying out the business interest of an existing Ford dealership that was struggling.
After becoming a Ford franchise, the company was known as Bill Page Ford. At some point in the following decades, they acquired import franchises. The Ford dealer is long gone, but the Bill Page company still has Honda and Toyota dealerships in Falls Church, Virginia.
As far as I know, the old Buick location was where the current Honda dealership sits now – this is a recent image below:
Don’t forget ‘Bill Page Pontiac” !!
Note the first McDonalds in the area appears next to the dealership (soon after first photo) .. I remember the old building as a Pontiac dealership. We bought a Toyota from Bill Page. Arlington Boulevard and Annandale Road, Falls Church Virginia
I didn’t realize that was one of Northern Virginia first McDonald’s! It’s still there, too.
Here’s an ad from when that McDonald’s opened:
Is the ‘58 Chevy in front of the Golden State Tire Company for sale? 😀😉
58 Ford, you mean?
Sorry, I see the 58 Chevy all the way to the left 🙂
Like the two “mid 50’s Fords” in the “Golden State Tire” pic!! Anyone know what the stubby looking convertible is parked right behind the white “Ford”??
Hillman Minx, possibly a Mk VIII. Bryce knows his Rootes Group cars, I defer to his judgement.
In the bottom photo, looks like the two gentlemen are standing in front of a ’74 Caprice or Impala (think its a coupe) for $895 . Thats like $5,250 today. Since there is several Chevys of the same year, I would image they came from a rental fleet.
