We Have Moved (Servers)
– Posted on July 25, 2018
Had to refresh my log in, but beyond that, things look good!
and if this comment appears, the edit function is working fine as well.
Attempting to comment on a prior thread, I found myself logged in as “skimontwsczews.”
Had to log out.
That happened to me once before too — I found myself logged in as “cartiercartier.” I thought I’d been hacked by Lincoln Town Car enthusiasts.
I’ve seen that happen a couple of times.
Woohoo!! I’ve been waiting for this for about a year, or more.
Thanks David!
I’m in! Good job, David! Hopefully everyone makes it across…
Overjoyed. Will celebrate with new post forthwith.
Thank you, Mr David Saunders, you have saved CC!
New Tatra87 post soon? That’s also great news!
Yippee! Thanks, David and others, so much for putting a lot of effort in making Curbside Classie even more pleasurable to read and contribute! I look forward to more of articles without seeing the cheerful 503 error messages and such.
Wonderful news! Love your work, David!
HI Dave,
Thank you for lending your expertise to CC.
One of my posts (The 3 Red CCs) has lost all of the photos (and possibly photos in the comments).
https://www.curbsideclassic.com/curbside-classics-american/three-red-cc-classics-from-the-1950s-well-one-is-a-1949-and-one-could-be-a-1960-but-theyre-all-red/
I’ll dig up the pictures from my backup and reinsert them.
Dave, Your backup restores fixed the above missing pics issue. Thank you.
Dave: You Da Man!
Awesome news!
The move didnโt seem to affect my login or avatar at all; in fact, I remained logged in from a few days ago.
Now speed, on the other hand, is affected. MUCH better. I keep expecting to get pulled over for streaming more than 5Ghz over the speed limit!
Thanks to you guys for the upgrade.
Great news! Thank you so much!
This isn’t a big deal, and I’m not even sure if it’s related, but I noticed that a picture I attached to a comment yesterday (in Joseph Dennis’s Seville post) somehow disappeared between last night and this morning. Again, not a big deal, but I just wanted to let you know in case it’s relevant.
Also, out of curiosity, would the email notification feature be working again? I’m not how many folks used that feature, but I sure miss it.
Again, thanks for all your work on this!
Same thing happened to me in the same post now that I’m looking at it. My attached pic is gone a well. Not a biggie in this case.
I still need to move those over. There is over 10 gigs worth of attachments!
Ok, thanks for confirming you are aware of it!
Wow, if I had known that I would get the honor of the last morning CC on the old server I might have picked a better car. ๐
I think Dave has a lock on CCer of the year. You certainly have my vote.
Nice going David, I’m just glad I didn’t have to carry the fridge. ๐ ๐ ๐
I’ve still got some bits and pieces to complete including email notifications.
Many thanks for your time, David. It’s soothing to know there are still community-minded people out there in an age where that can easily be forgotten. I’m sure it was time for which you could have easily charged muchly.
Ofcourse, speaking as a well-below numpty, I have no understanding of what you actually did (in Aus, a servery is the dividing bench between a kitchen and dining area, is this change you did related?) except that it is something Good.
Cheers, and good on you, as we say hereabouts.
It seems to be performing very well. Thanks!
Whoa! MUCH faster login and screen refresh! It feels like a nice upgrade ๐
Thanks for all youโve done, David. Everything seems to run much faster now.
Wow, itโs fast! And my log-in stayed intact! Thanks Paul and David … now Iโll even be more productive in the rest of my day, since CC will respond faster and more reliably.
Just wanted to add my thanks as well; my knowledge of computers is pretty much limited to turning them on and then hoping everything works correctly.
Came in about an hour ago and attempted to comment on the turquoise 55 Tbird article. Didn’t seem to take it and now I see the whole article is gone.
Otherwise my login survived!
Hi David, brilliant job! A glitch in the RSS feed: it’s still listing as an article the incomplete ’55 T-Bird posting that was pulled down from the site. A few minutes ago the headline’s link went to the T-Bird posting, but now it gets a 404.
I use igHome as a site headline aggregator; that’s where I’m seeing the RSS feed.
Ignore that T Bird post. I accidentally published it in error, and pulled it down shortly afterwards.
The T-Bird is gone from the RSS headline feed now, all is well. Thanks again.
I’ll check on the T-Bird article tonight. It can hopefully be brought over from the old site. We might lose a few comment potentially on it that were made in the transition time.
Unfortunately there is no backup/restore tool for a WordPress site of this size.
It was posted in error. Ignore it.
Excellent. I can do that!
I just tried to comment on the Desoto article and I got a “you are trying to post comments too quickly” error message. The comment seems to have been lost. Although this one seems to have survived.
That sounds like the anti-spam, anti-robot feature. It makes sure that each person’s post is a few seconds apart so that it isn’t someone with a script trying to spam the site.
OK thanks. Will try again.

The Forward Look Circus! (But there is an elephant in the room.)
Love the snappy site!
Wow this is quick, even on the hotel Wi-Fi on an older tablet. Well done!
