“State Reformatry” ” Dept of Corrections” . Why not be honest and just call them what they are ” Prison”?.
“HRHP”. Held as a guest of the Queen!.
“State Reformatory For Men”. That reminds me of our Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij (SGP). A Dutch political party: ultra-strict Protestants, bible belt, men only on key positions, etc.

I’m fascinated by the prewar truckmakers who existed in the shadow of the Big Three and International Harvester. Who were their customers and why? Diamond-T was supposedly the most stylish (I guess?) but a state prison wouldn’t have been interested in that. No need to impress potential customers!
Were there diehards who just wouldn’t buy anything but a Federal (for example) truck?
Good point; it’s hard to imagine a Diamond T being a cost-effective purchase for the Department. Maybe it was for high-status criminals? 🙂
I doubt the interior was anything luxurious the best seat would have been the driver’s, awesome old truck.
I remember riding in old buses in the late 1950’s, we’d ride as far in the back as we could so we’d get bounced & jounced a lot .
