Jeep’s image wasn’t always so macho or butch; back in the fifties, you could bey this pink limited-edition Surrey or Gala, complete with striped awning top. And no four wheel drive!
Just the thing for Hawaii, and for a local to pose in front of.
And to deliver room service food to your bungalow at the Hotel Las Brisas in Acapulco.
Imagine one of these and a 56 Dodge La Femme sitting in your driveway!

I believe these models were also available in powder blue and a pastel yellow.
Probably for the guys.
I’m assuming the food delivery Jeep doesn’t have an automatic, so I’m guessing he doing his delivery in first gear? Probably just as well – If you go much faster than first gear the food is probably flying off anyways.
There’s a company called Pink Adventure Tours, https://www.pinkadventuretours.com/
I first saw them in Sedona, AZ back in the 1980’s
My eyes immediately went to the aircraft. Cessna 182s are very nice… a bit more sophisticated and more powerful than 172s.
C182s got a rear window in 1962.
FlightAware says it is:

My eye was drawn to the plane as well, the paint scheme makes it look like a forward look Plymouth!
Always have Iiked fun colors on cars. Someone mentioned 56 Dodge LaFemme. And who can forget PINK CADILLAC 💗? The two and tri tones of the 50s were some of the most striking vehicles ever. 56 Packard Caribbean and 55 DeSoto Coronado were two of the best 👌.Looks like someone drove this Jeep under the front porch awning. 🤔. The photo with food tray brings back memories of the old Drive Ins. ❤. A couple of our local ones had car hops on roller skates! As foir Jeep, it’s amazing how it has survived and thrived. Guess variety (as seen here) is part of the success. My favorite Jeep was the Commander.
Barbie’s Jeep is pink.
Ask my girls.
I’ve seen these referred to as Gala Jeeps before, and I think they were popular as rental vehicles in tropical tourist destinations like Hawaii and the Caribbean – they were offered by resorts as cheap rentals for guests who needed to drive around the islands.
As far as dating these photos, they both appear to be from around 1960. The Hawaii Jeep has license plates used from 1957-60, but with a number that suggests the middle or end of that run, while the food delivery vehicle has a 1960-61 Guerrero state license plate.
Oh, and I like the pink “W” hubcaps.
Brought to you by Pepto Bismol!
Boy when I was a kid these things were all over the islands. They were a not very safe vehicle, People drove them like sports cars, and began flipping over easily. The rental companies soon stop renting these out due to injuries.
I have a tin toy Gala Jeep complete with fringe. Had no idea they were real!
Las Brisas and the pink Jeeps are part of “The Godfather’s Revenge,” the second authorized sequel book to “The Godfather.”
New Tonka for 1962 …
