This reminds me of something I read about long ago – the 1929 Hungerford Rocket. The difference is that the Hungerford could actually be run rocket-powered.
I love the fact that this “car” has a spare tire and wheel; no apparent headlights but does have a spare tire. Terrorizing others on the road must be a daytime only endeavor.
Forward visibility leaves something to be desired, I would not want to be behind this thing when he fired up the rocket. This reminds me of the story about somebody attaching a JATO rocket to the top of his 1967 Chevy Impala, fired the rocket up and it went airborne flying into the side of a mountain. Supposedly Mythbusters did a segment on it, although I have never seen it.
Back when a graffitied Corolla with kitschy thrift store trinkets crazy glued to the hood didn’t quite cut it for art!
Homeland Security would be called if this were seen approaching the drive-through window at McDonald’s.
LOL! Thought the same thing when I saw the picture.
Making a right turn could be challenging…..
Only for those standing to the right of it…

Here’s a write-up…

They did indeed do a show about that; the very first Mythbusters episode, if I recall correctly. Well worth watching when you get the chance.
Yeah it was fast but the airborne part didnt come off, saw that episode just recently.
Wonder if it’s right hand drive. It looks like a sign for the underground behind it. Maybe the guy on the left is the “fireman”.
“The earliest ICBM’s required not only that continent to be struck be contiguous but also required a very brave or fateful pilot.”
“I’m sorry, General; Operation Frighten Peru is a failure. There’s this big canal thing across Panama now and no bridge.”
“Curses! Well, turn around and we’ll find a reason to start deterring Canada. And pick me up a pecan log at Stuckey’s on the way.”
And *here* you go (newsreel footage):
