55 Mercury? Oh boy do I remember those hot weather ventilated seat cushions. My mother always sat on one of those in our 64 Cutlass. Dark green vinyl seats and no a/c, they were crucial.
That kid could be me – a quiet place, a book, a car – three of my favorite things.
I forgot about those cushions! No matter what the upholstery, they were crucial in Arizona in the summer. May (sometimes April!) through September, they helped make non-air-conditioned cars slightly bearable.
There are few, but those few are very likely to be underrepresented on the Internet, since many of them aren’t well covered by Internet, even in 2019.
It was quite odd today when four persons were sitting in the lobby of Chrysler Proving Ground, I’m the youngest ( and I’m sure I’m the cutest too ) and I was reading their magazines and rest three were on the phone ( and I left my book in my backpack, something I usually read during lunch time in Milford Proving Ground. ) Reason is fairly simple, my phone happens to have poor signals in all those areas.
We are big readers in our family, and I still prefer printed books over digital media. Our kids love books and still read all the time. We still do family trips to the library too, just like my parents did with me.
I had Jury Duty two weeks ago. Yea! On top of that I had my son for the day because it was a Wednesday. That meant he had to come. Oh, this could get interesting in a courtroom. Check in and there are around 60 of us in the waiting area. As we are sitting I look around and 59 people are looking at their cell phone and one person is reading a Journal on 2019 Pharmaceutical Drug updates. I got dismissed in under an hour.

Can’t be that hot, it looks like the kid’s wearing a sweater.
The missing hot-weather accessory here is the flannel ‘glove’ for the steering wheel.
It really says a lot that I couldn’t figure out what on earth he was could be staring at so intently until I scrolled down and saw book.
Wow. The kid is reading a BOOK! When was the last time you saw a young person doing that?

Kid’ll damage his eyes with that thing,
