It’s time to take a look at some snapshots of Ford people in the ’60s and ’70s. Understandably, a good number of Mustangs appear, but there’s more; quite a bit more. I even added a couple of Mercurys, to add some Dearborn variety.
And well, then there are the fashions, which vary widely. Talking about which, the images are sorted more by estimated fashion period, rather than model year.
Wow that first picture brings back memories, My 1967 Red Fastback with 390 engine, it was great during college and afterward for a few years. Saddly i sold it, in 1974, I miss that car even today,

Looking at these pictures, I can’t help but wonder how many of these people posing are still around, and what are they driving today?! 🙂
Jack Nicholson’s 64 Galaxie with the teardrop hood looks mean!
I wonder if that’s a factory 427 car?
(exactly!!)
“Wendy, let me explain something to you….”
My first thought: “Jack, you’ve put on some weight!” 🙂
The Red Wagon looks like it is a Mercury Bobcat.
Here is my favorite Ford people photo featuring a yellow 1960 for ranch wagon. Black and White since we were not a Kodachrome slide family. Dad is behind the camera, and he let me sit on the roof of the wagon.
similar to our yellow wagon
Here is the similar wagon in the yellow color I will never forget. We had a powder blue falcon pickup as well.
Another terrific set of pictures.
I wonder if the girl next to the Pinto knew just how color-coordinated she was with the car. (and that vase she’s holding is some kind of terrible!)
Having lost both my parents this past year, the Falcon Futura put a smile on my face. The same car, brown with a white top, was their first brand new car.
While the Mustang stole the Futura’s thunder, the Futura was a good looking package when it was introduced!
It’s easy to understate the impact and popularity of these dressed up compacts (Futura, Monza, Dart GT) in 1961-1964 as critical precursors to the Mustang. They were all very popular and made a big impact. Folks wanted smaller but nice cars.
The “Ho Jo’s” pic is awesome! Wonder how many years on the big “68 Ford” is. I’d guess it’s a used ride by the time that pic was taken.
Stephen Pellegrino’s ‘59 Batwing Chevy must be a time machine. Looks like he had a hankering for some HoJo’s and went back in time to get some. I see him photobombing the picture of the Falcon Futura.
Speaking of the Futura, those wheel covers are not too dissimilar from my own Futura’s wheel covers. And mine was a ‘79! A Fairmont of course.
The ‘67 Fastback in the lede photo is very nice. Just a slightly used car back then, but would cost a small fortune today in that condition.
And that red ‘65 in the photo dated September 1964 looks brand new, which it probably was.
Great shots, Rich… thanks for posting!
Love the falcon with the hojo in back of it… 71 pinto was my first new car, had a dark metallic green and black vinyl top with a stick… Girlfriend at the time had a red one… Here’s a pic of my first car a 63 Mercury comet s22 convertible my brother gave me upon entering the marines. He and his then girlfriend are sitting on the hood taken about 1969… I bought one exactly like it 16 months ago…
Never knew a yellow Pinto could look that good!
Those folks with the red 65 Mustang were in a mighty exclusive club in the early fall of 1964!
67 Mustang not sure of the year of the Vac.
Dad, me and my brothers on his ’52 Ford 8N, probably 1976 or thereabouts. We were a (mostly) Ford family at that point – Dad had the ’69 F-100 that I would later buy and use when we moved to our Middle West farm, and Mom drove a ’68 Country Squire LTD. Dad also had a ’71 Vega by this point that would become my first car.
1965 Fairlane GT 390 4 speed with me in 1966. A lot of car for a kid in high school. Made many good memories with that ride and a Ford guy ever since.
Sorry for the incorrect dates. 1966 Fairlane GT, picture in 1967. Getting old.
The kid in he red sport coat next to the black Mustang looks like a miniature used car salesman.
Probably trying to sell the little girl (his sister, I guess) on 6 cylinder “Secretary Special”. 🤣
Another great bunch of time halting pictures =8-) .
What’s the car parked in front of the Mustang Fastback , first picture ? .
I *think* I know what it is .

I like that last pic of that Cougar (maybe ’77-79) which I had a Thunderbird with the same body style. I still miss that car.
My first car a 72 coupe with a little 351 Cleveland. I’m now 65 and have a 69 coupe with a 347 stroker. I can’t grow up!
The 67/68 Cougar sure has some big tires stuffed in the rear wheel wells.
The 65 Galaxies always reminds me of cop cars. Ford must have been giving them away as they were everywhere.
Agree the 64 could be a 427 car, looks really nice, I really wanted a 64 500XL 427 4 Speed.
