Photos from the Cohort by Hyperpack (Slant Six).
For today we got some Frozen Galaxies to look at, all thanks to a few captures by Hiperpack uploaded at the Cohort. We’ll start with this ’67 Galaxie 500 droptop, with a 390 under its hood.
And where was this Galaxie found? I’m no good with astronomical maps, but previous posts by Hyperpack would make me think this particular one is in Pennsylvania, as it wears PA plates and it’s where most of his finds come from.
Here’s the whole cluster. As can be seen, on this grouping the V-8-powered Ford Galaxies are orbiting a far newer Focus; mighty celestial bodies next to a tiny white.
Let’s move a bit closer now.
Here’s a sight that should be familiar to CC readers; a gray ’64 that already made an appearance last December. Its taillight rocket afterburners already got enough coverage at that time, so let’s focus on the ’67.
The ’64’s round Ford taillights had lost their rocket-booster look in ’65 in favor of a squarish motif, with the ’67 rear end being its natural evolution.
’65 was also the year full-size Fords adopted the stacked headlights that were all the rage in the mid-sixties. By ’67, they had gained a more sculpted and elaborate look.
A full-fledged Ford face of the past, next to a full-fledged Aston Martin Ford face of the recent era.
If you liked your full-size Fords with hips, ’67 was a good year for that. Perhaps the year with the best and most flowing look of the period for Dearborn’s full-sizers.
As for these droptops, they found about 19K buyers for ’67. It was the second rarest of the Galaxie 500 line that year, just above the XL ragtop.
I can add little to what other CC authors have told about these Galaxies and their 390s (etc.), so feel free to check the links below on those. Let’s close with one last look at the ’67 droptop, part of another chapter in our occasional series of The Frozen Fords Of The Winter.

Great post of a gorgeous car. I personally love the ’67’s afterburners. The rounded rectangle looks great to me.
When the ’73 LTD came out, they sort of went a little retro, and brought that look back for 1973 and 1974, and many folks commented on it then how Ford went back to a proper Ford taillight style for their full-sizers.
You end your post with a reference to the “Frozen Fords of Winter”. I’ll leave you with one of my own…
*Very* sad to see this parked outside with the tinworms hard at work .

I’m a Ford fan boy from way, way, back and those 67 Galaxies are one of my faves, along with the 63 Galaxies, all with that awesome 390. Makes my S550 Mustang look, wel, boring.
All of the details of that 67 are intimately familiar to me!
All are In Jeannette, PA.
I found the ’64 in November 2024 about 10-15 blocks from this location.
This time we find them at Orange’s Auto Service.
I doubt they are being serviced. My guess is they are more likely property of the shop owner or maybe one of his mechanics.
They are both for sale.
My 64 fastback that I brought neck from the dead
I prefer the ’64, but both cars very appealing. It was a good era for Ford styling.
